Eh, wouldn’t call Ezra and Ahsoka’s confrontation with the Emperor a “fight”. It was more like Darth Sidious nearly one-shot them both and they ran away because they knew they couldn’t beat him, nor allow him to enter the WBW and gain control over all existence.

According to Dave Filoni, the WBW works on a closed time loop system. Anything that’s happened has already happened, so Ahsoka never actually died, Ezra always pulled her through the portal. It’s most useful function would be attaining knowledge of the future

that explanation is an old interpretation of time traveling. the modern one is different. the very same events of this episode explained from the modern scientific views: "there are multiple realities, Ahsoka is killed by Vader in the reality of the Rebels, but two years later Ezra brings another Ahsoka from a different reality in which she did not died, but mysteriously disappeared from at the last moment".

13:04 Chris is right on the money right there. A lot of people call Star Wars sci-fi when technically it's science fantasy. I know we don't refer to it as such, but the Force is basically space magic. If Star Wars didn't have the Force, then it could be considered sci-fi but because of the existence of this magic system, it's technically not.

This is the thing I have wanted the most from Star Wars the past few years. Stories that explore the Force in a way that doesn't need to be spelled out to the audience but can be left up to interpretation. If I'm being honest, the Ahsoka show is the only live action project that's done that, and only because it's calling back to these elements from Clone Wars and Rebels.

It’s not Dathomir magick, it’s sith alchemy. Palpatine used it before in Clone Wars S6 when Yoda was starting his force ghost training Micky wonders why no Mortis in the movies, Chris says it’s a little too fantastical. He’s kinda right. I was very shocked to hear that a lot of people didn’t like the Mortis episodes of Clone Wars when they first premiered. Too weird for them. Now Vader has faced two opponents that just disappear. Imagine when he kills Obi Wan he’s like “Wtf?! Again?!” 😂 Palpatine didn’t clap cheeks eventually leading to Rey! 😂 His “son” was a clone! There’s a Book of Sith that has a section on Dathomir, but it’s Legends.

But Palpatine and Mother Talzin were allies for a while before he kidnapped Maul, so he did learn Dathomir Magick. you are right in that it's not outright Dathomir Magick as every instance of Dathomiry magick in every canon event has been green and this is sith alchemy blue. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean he doesn't use some of that Dathomir knowledge to elevate his sith alchemy.

In a few of them, he covers the difference b/w Sith alchemy and Dathomiry magic as well as that while Palpatine did study it, he was always confused by how it worked. I believe the reason was that while the Sith seek to manipulate the natural flow of the Dark Side, the Nightsisters move with it.

This isn’t explained in the episode, but Palpatine’s palace is the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. One of these portals is beneath the Jedi Temple which is what gave him a window into the World Between Worlds.
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain 7 ай бұрын
Also, Palpatine could just sense that the gateway was open. As long as the gateway is open, the Emperor can open a portal to the WBW from any point in time and space; it doesn’t necessarily need to be at a Jedi Temple, though it probably helps when he is.
@Dauth312

Wasn't the Jedi temple on Coruscant built on top of a old Sith temple
@Dauth312
@Dauth312 7 ай бұрын
@shortstuff780 indeed it was, it's what added to the hubris of the Jedi thinking that by building a light side temple on top of it that it would nullify the temples influence entirely. However, Sheeve would go down there from time to time to practice his sith alchemy in hiding and was also the reason why the Jedi lost the ability to see the future clearly and didn't know the outcome of the Clone Wars. Sheeve was using his alchemy to fuck with their visions, and implant visions into anakin to force him down his path even more.

It's implied that Ahsoka returns to Malachor immediately following the explosion of the sith superweapon. If you recall the end of Twilight of the Apprentice, she can be seen walking down stairs briefly while the scene cuts to Vader limping away & Morai flying off. Once again, it's also implied that she stays there for quite some time so as to not fuck with the established timeline. She clearly has an idea of what this realm is, and chose to let things play out as intended rather than insert herself where she wasn't supposed to be. Rana is correct in assuming she doesn't return to the galactic stage until some time after this event takes place in Ezra's current time, thus explaining her absence in other stories set during this period and during the civil war, hence why she's not in the OT. Quite a clever way to get around explaining why she's still alive afterwards. I know Dave's said "closed loop" this & that, but let's call it for what it is. She wasn't conceptualized during the originals obviously, so if they want to continue using the character post OT this is as good an explanation as any for why she wasn't around during that era.

16:43 Palpatine was allied with Mother Talzin at one time but then they became enemies and she is one of the few people whos power Palatine "feared". Also, I think it was confirmed that Palpatine's clone had the child and not Palpatine himself so he wasn't romantically engaged with anybody before and during Episode IX.
@TheGreater-ScopeVillain

I wouldn’t say that Palpatine ever *_feared_* Talzin. Rather, he recognised her as one of the only beings who had the potential to mess up his plans. He recognised her as a threat and dealt with her accordingly, but he was never afraid of her, nor of anyone really. Also, since Darth Sidious and Talzin were indeed once allies who exchanged knowledge and abilities, with him originally going to make her his Sith apprentice, it is entirely possible that the two of them were “clappin’”, as Spidey so eloquently put it.

6:25 I am pretty sure that window to Kanan’s death was just something conjured by Palpatine. It’s odd that a portal would open up right at the fuel depot instead of an actual Jedi temple. Also, when Palps says “perhaps I can”, the first word is spoken by Freddie. So if he had gone to pull Kanan through, he would’ve pulled in Palps and gave him what he wanted right then and there. Finally, since you’ve already watched the finale, Palps was obviously listening as he hears Ezra talk about wanting his parents, and in the finale Palps offers him the supposed chance to get his family back. Long story short, that was totally Palps faking the portal to Kanan’s death. 😅

And also, this is the first time Vader sees someone disappear in front of him. So the second time with Obi-Wan would have been a complete mindfuck for him. Also this event with Ahsoka leads Vader to tell Palpatine likely about it leading Palpatine to seek out this power in the first time. Its a loop. Full Circle.

At the end of season 2 Twilight of the Apprentice... Morai flew into the portal to the World Between Worlds to guide Esra in this episode. Then they got Ashoka who went back out the portal to the collapsed Sith temple. And is seen in the closing shots of season 2, but that does not mean she was in that timeline any more. We are not sure WHEN she went back to Malachor, or when she got off that planet. Could be she was not in the other events of the galaxy because she skipped time until closer to the end of RoTJ in one way or another.

The WBW is a force construct (space magic) that exist outside of time and space and has portals that conects back to the material universe.

We assumed she died or at least assumed it was likely. So this was literally her coming back from the dead for us. And cleverly it doesn’t really reveal anything new about her, she is only taken in and out of the time space continuum and doesn’t actually go to the future, she goes back to her own time and presumably lays low to not disturb the future events she’s learned of, especially anything to do with Lothal.

I remember when this first came out, and how much conversation and debate there was surrounding the World Between Worlds. I thought it was wild that I had just seen time travel introduced to Star Wars for the first time! At the time, I thought the World Between Worlds could come into play in The Rise of Skywalker as a way to tie the end of the saga to the beginning. I imaged that Rey's journey would take her to the World Between Worlds and that it would be guarded by an unnamed wise old Togruta female who guided her to the next step of the journey, much like the Grail knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. As much as I would have liked to have seen that, I'm glad they decided not to go that route, as it probably would have been too trippy for Star Wars fans who were not familiar with the animated shows. BTW, as far as we know, Palpatine never had sex. Rey's father was genetically engineered by the Sith cultists on Exegol using Palpatine's DNA (as explained in The Rise of Skywalker novelization). Although we do know from the Son of Dathomir comics that Palpatine and Mother Talzin worked together for a time, so who knows?

Anakin on the death star: if i had a credit every time someone from my past disappeared right as i struck them down, i would have two credits. Which is not that many, but it is weird that it happened twice.

The point is that Palpatine COULDN'T break through. He used Sith Magic to get a glimpse of it since Ezra and Ahsoka were able to open the door, but he still didn't understand how to get in, and tried using them to pull himself through. But of course, that didn't work.

There was a rumor saying that the old dude studying art with Sabine was supposed to be the servant of Vader at his Mustafar Castle in Rogue One. Somehow they scrapped that idea at some point, I think.

@@pauldavis5665 Force Awakens has people on Takodana, a Mid Rim world, watch in real time as Hosnian Prime, a Core world thousands of light years away, is destroyed by a blast coming from the Unknown Regions, again, thousands, if not millions, of light years away. Sith alchemy was much more a thing in Legends, with Sith across the millenia studying and experimenting with the Force to create all sorts of wondrous effects, like Palpatine's ritual through the mirror or making a metal sword that can block lightsabres.

oh, they did touch it in movies .. Obi-Wan literally disappears in front of Darth Vader. This is probably where he ends up. It's like a limbo... world between worlds.. if you've seen Star Trek, there's a place called the nexus. The guy from the movie actually plays that character in this voice acting Malcolm McDowell it fits.... it's basically a nexus time in space has no meaning and if you wanted to go out, you can go to anytime we don't know exactly how it works but it is an ongoing project. Hopefully we see more of it but yet they touch on it in the movies just not exactly, I mean it's even touched in the Mandalorian when Grogu reaches out through the force it's related to it

And here we are The World between Worlds lets go!! the episode ive personally been the most hyped for and one of the best episodes in Rebels in my opinion!!Hearing all those voices from across the Star Wars universe right from the opening chills and feels everytime,seeing how Ashoka survived fighting Vader because Ezra had always intervened but also how Ezra cannot save Kanan it has to be that way he is now one with the force,Ashoka vs the Emperor and an appearance from Morai the owl too.Awesome reaction guys😊 And here we go into the finale "One last lesson"

The World Between Worlds is still one of my favourite things in all of Star Wars. If Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious manages to get his hands on it, he will become an omnipotent god and rule over all existence, with power over life, death, time, space, reality, and the entire universe. And he's still hunting for it to this day... So in a way, this was arguably the most important “battle” or “confrontation” in the entirety of Star Wars, even more so than Anakin’s redemption.

He was using Sith Alchemy in that scene in the world between worlds. Also Rey is technically Palpatine’s daughter being that his “son” is a clone of him that doesn’t have the force. The Rise of Skywalker novel explains it better

#SundayRundown The gospel and shenanigans of Dave Filoni: He doesn’t like to say that Ezra saving Ahsoka is time travel. The WBW is more of an extension of how the jedi can see the future and past, and any changes made there may have always been that way. Or as Suraj would say in Daniel Faraday “Whatever happened, happened.” He confirmed that Ezra was in the WBW in S1 when he got his kyber crystal, and again in S2 when he talked with Yoda, he just didn’t know it yet because he was too naieve and not fully unlocked. At the Celebration panel for this season he wore a shirt that said “Ahsoka Lives?” And right at the end he removed the question mark, revealing an exclamation point. And 10 months later we saw it.

19:42 There is a Mother! Abeloth. She’s currently only in Legends but Dave Filoni helped create her and Mortis for Legends so I’d be surprised if he excluded her when it came to adapting Mortis into Canon. Many people including me have speculated that Abeloth will be coming soon.
