so here's my take on ai art. i think it's a really fun tool to use if you need just a little inspiration, or if you want to use it just for fun. but it should ONLY be a tool, and not something that takes the place of humans. you're right, cyprus, it isn't real art. i personally think it's fun to experiment with it, but in no way would i want it to take the place of my own imagination

Saying someone is an artist because they use AI for their art is like calling someone a chef because because they found some food in someone else fridge and microwaved it, or like calling someone a sculptor because they stole a mold and used it instead of sculpting. The most I will ever and have ever used generative AI is for basic inspiration. Nothing more. Analytical AI is actually useful, it is used in things like medicine to view large datasets of X-rays and mri scans and find things like cancer sometimes _months_ before doctors can normally see it. As with EVERYTHING, AI too is a double edged blade, it has potential for bad and good, a bad example of analytical AI is something like predicting crime and the people who will commit it before it happens, which might seem like a good thing until you realize that it could not only target someone completely wrongly, but also because it would make police and other such people in charge arrest someone before they do anything illegal at all, but not in the sense of prevention but in all out before they even considered it. Another example would be _the KZbin moderation system_ which is notoriously bad at realizing who has and hasn’t actually done anything against KZbin policy, it is a horrible system that should 100% be done by an actual team instead of a robot. On the flip side a good generative AI example could be… maybe some sort of chatbot ai, not chatgpt but some sort of role play maybe? I am not clear on this one and it’s probably the closest to a “good thing we will get with generative AI. I just realized how so incredibly long this is and im sorry if a wasted anyone’s time by them reading it lol pls don’t be to long for KZbin🙏

Honestly Chat GPT is really good at DMing for 1-on-1 DnD campaigns, you just have to help add a little bit of humanity and intrigue! Humans and AI work wonderfully together, AI providing the backbone and the quick skeleton, while humans add the soul. In my opinion, AI is the child of humans, and we need to work hard to raise all of them well.

This is completely true. I see AI "art" so much nowadays, and its becoming more and more popular to people, choosing it over creating their own style and making something themselves, and even more worse for them to put it on the internet and call it their own. To be honest, if it was more for personal entertainment use rather than to be used publicly/to make a profit I might be a little more okay with it, but I still don't like it. I will admit I have used Ai in the past to make stuff, but for the most part as a joke, like seeing what weird things it comes up with, etc. I would never make AI "art" and put it out publicly and call it my creation.

I partially agree with this, I think that AI generated art isn't truly "art", but I think generational art has a place somewhere. I absolutely don't think it should full on replace artists, but I think it can be useful in a couple, if simple, ways. For example, inspiration! With AI you can type in something, get a result in a few moments, and that might inspire you to make or draw something. I think I'm somewhere between liking and disliking AI art. It's fast, but certainly doesn't look as good as normal art, and if I wanted a proper image, I would spend some money on a commission, but if I just want a quick, not very detailed, picture of a thing that doesn't exist (like if I need a reference or something), I would go to AI for that, then make something myself.

I use generational ai for storyline inspiration. I usually go on character ai and go crazy with it then I use it to make some fun little stories I can read myself. I use ai “art” just to see how much detail the ai can do and I hand my art to the ai so I can see what it does.

Respectful of others opinions, I think that AI is a very good tool for inspiration, preliminary design, research, and advanced computation. I believe that AI art is art, but it is not your art. Art is an expression and even though the computer doesn’t have emotions, the input it received did. That input had the thoughts of a human behind it. I also feel that AI is an incredible tool for STEM areas, of which I am a part of

Coming from a composers srandpoint theres a fine line between what i do and what ai music does. Theres so many quotes from Igor Stravinsky to john Williams that say its okay to "steal" music from other composers but you have to put your own spin on it if you dont want to credit them. And ai music does that but there is no twist on it it just steals it and doesnt credit the original composer. So its a fine line but overall its hurting the business

Not a fan of AI “art”. You are right, it isn’t art, it’s image generation. Profiting off it, using it to get clout of traction is very uncool, as it competes with actual artists who dedicate their whole lives to the craft. It’s also annoying how common it is on DA, although AI accounts are very easy to spot. I think AI could be used to generate ideas and inspiration, but isn’t a finished product. I also think messing around with AI just for laughs is fun, but it shouldn’t be shared to artist websites.

Art is used to express emotion and feelings, and sometimes a story (but still with feelings and emotion!). That’s what makes music, dancing, sketching, etc art! They all express some sort of emotion! AI doesn’t have feelings. The “art” doesn’t have feeling. Not even a story, because unlike the human brain, it doesn’t plan or create the story. That’s why AI “art” isn’t art. Also, the AI being trained to steal other artists’ art is the company’s fault. The creation of AI isn’t the problem. It doesn’t have a brain. It can’t plot to steal your art. The companies who choose to train their AI like that are at fault. People who steal from AI (do I really call it stealing?) and claim it as their own are also at fault.

While it’s impossible to know what the future holds, Indie animation is probably more respected right now than it has ever been! Like the other commenter said, it’s mostly a problem in the industry. Honestly as it stands right now, the more corporations scrape the bottom of the barrel with this AI garbage, the more people will respect indie creators even more. So keep pursuing those dreams!

I think it's also important to talk about how much energy AI needs too. While making a single chat or image doesnt require a lot of electricity, entire websites use a lot! Chat GPT alone needs 180,000 households worth of electricity EVERY DAY! Generating so much electricity for these companies harms the environment by releasing carbon dioxide, pollutants, and heat into environments where they shouldn't be. Old coal plants have been reopened because of demand from crypto in the last few years, and i guarantee something similar has/will happen with AI. While there are valid uses of AI, this amount of consumption cant be justified in my opinion.

The only time I use ai for things like math and other stuff cause I suck at math (I still try to learn to get better) the only time I’ve used ai for art is when I was in health and we had an assignment to make superhero’s for health and stuff like that and I didn’t know what to do for photos so I used ai. Other than for that kind of stuff, I absolutely hate ai. We are getting replaced by ai and it’s not really that fun either. In most cases we give it a prompt and it comes nothing like how we Imagined, but with our art, human art we can at least get closer to getting what we have visions of. That’s my personal opinion and yours could be different. I mean no hate to the people who like ai.

Ooh boy, getting controversial with this one. So, my thoughts on AI art. It is a fascinating thing that also makes you consider the line between taking insperation and copying. Because essentially, what AI art is, is heavily "inspired" art. As of today, it is a blend of different art from across the internet with some randomness thrown in for flavor. It does make me wonder though, is there a huge difference between randomness and creativity because idk about you but kinda a lot of my creativity is throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks. Now for now, it is just kind of random but in the future, it might not be. Now, will AI ever truely be able to be creative? Most likely not and if it is, well lets hope it's not skynet. However, that randomness might one day be refined to the point of imitating true creativity. Idk if I got my point across with this but I am hungry and tired so I hope so.

The only AI art that I think is fine is when people write stories and will have the same image up for a while, changing it every now and then to also have a visual of what the characters are doing and where they are. Although, the AI images usually look like absolute crap. The proportions are so off, body parts will be in the wrong place and it won't stick to the same look of the characters the KZbinr is writing about. I also think its fine if you're using it to see cool images of things you weren't able to find anywhere else, especially if you can be specific with what you want, or looking at it for inspiration. But when people claim it as theirs, that's a problem, especially when it's in a certain style that only a few people use, or is really hard to draw

AI is not just effecting “art” that is a drawing, but also the art of writing things like poetry and stories. My mom knew someone who uses AI to write his essays for their classes. This is terrible because these people who do that aren’t learning how to write essays or anything that requires a student to write something. These kids aren’t going to know what to do if they had to write an essay or something in class and it’s on normal paper (that you need a pen or pencil to write) or on a computer program that you can’t go to another site (I had tests on these type of programs or websites, which forces you to stay on the site or program until you submitted the test, to prevent people from cheating) So, AI isn’t just preventing creativity, it’s also preventing basic learning skills

I think AI in generell is really cool, because i really like the idea of creating living machines of anykind(were sadly not there yet). I can see that generativ AI is not good for artist because for example if somebody needs a cool looking background, hes probably just going to describe it to AI and get a result he can be happy with. This obviously takes away commisions and with that money from artists. But i would say is just how technology goes. I do think that most AI Art looks cool but lacks souls since an AI does not have creative Intent yet, it just a network of math that calculates(simelar to what we humans do) what looks closest to what you described to the AI. One thing i dont really get is why some people would think that it is stealing to train AI with art that was uploaded under no paywall and by that can be viewed by anybody. Since a trained AI model does not save the original data of the dataset and does not claim ownership about the original artwork, it is not stealing it. As i see it when you put something up for display and an AI takes a look at it and learns from it(simelar to how a human would do it), it isnt worse than if a human would look at it and then draw something in a simelar style because they for example really like it. But maybe im just missing something here. Great Video by the way. Really like artworks.

AI art.. it’s so soulless… hollow. Something feels wrong whenever I see an AI “art piece”.. or a video with a meme audio with multiple different AI photos. It’s not creative nor is it funny. AI art doesn’t look good. All AI art looks the same. It’s flat. It’s hollow. It’s soulless. It’s emotionless. What’s the appeal? The ONLY thing I use AI art for is for references because AI can have cool ideas, but it lacks creativity in the sense of an art form and it lacks emotion. It’s disappointing to see someone post AI and claim it’s theirs.. Thank you for saying your opinion on AI art. Glad to know of one other person who shares my view of it.

Personally, I only use ai to get info faster. Instead of looking things up on google for 2 hours I can get all the facts I need in a matter of minutes. But I agree that it takes away creativity. If artists of any kind start relying on ai to make things then nobody will be creative and at that point, your not an artist, your just a copy and paste machine, for another machine. It’s not human anymore, there’s no passion or excitement from it, and that’s just sad.

Caaaaaaaaareful with this lol, the AI results are absolutely not always trustworthy. I’ve had several times where I’ve looked something up and the AI section either 1.) Contradicted itself 2.) Directly disagreed with most of the other results 3.) Told me something completely unrelated that I already knew was false 4.) Repeatedly mixed up names within a story. This was a fictional story mind you, but if it can swap the names of a story around it can easily do the same for history, especially considering characters in a story are specifically created to have distinct names whereas there are a ton of same and/or similar names in history Honestly it’s hard enough getting trustworthy *human written* sources, but now we have inaccurate AI BS to worry about too. Not enough people are talking about how much AI generated ‘information’ is going to absolutely obliterate the already murky world of research and literature. I’m so glad I’m not in school anymore, I feel like at LEAST 50% of ELA assignments and History assignments are now bordering on not-doable. Because there’s no way to check if the source you’re pulling from was even written by a human being.

One of my many problems with ai art is that they are stealing artists Hard work to train it. If I saw an artist use their own art and pictures to train their own ai to make art, Now THAT would be epic. Not that Id want them using it to do commissions, but in general the idea of ai making art is legitimately awesome. But I do not agree whatsoever with ai being a replacement for artists. Neither the people STEALING others Art to train their ai to take that Said artists place. Thats just Sick man.
