Like all raw forms of intelligence, the machine must be taught. We need human observers (at least for a while) to analyze different failure modes to decide the optimal failure mitigation for that particular situation. The machine would need to learn how to make blind assumptions (Not quite blind) about situations that it deems as "similar to" a learned mitigation (or combination of other techniques if a "combined failure forecast" occurs). The machine would then be able to make decisions in real time based on previous situations with the ability to apply a mitigation rating for each event. Software updates could be done in real time. The rate of auto accidents would drop significantly. Allow a mode to disable the autopilot to allow for manual control. Make a law that requires a "continuous driver seat occupancy requirement" and the transit employees won't get shafted a much. That's my take on the whole thing.

3:33 "the only difference between level 2 and 3-5 is liability" - no that's wrong - the difference in Level 4 "full driving task" and Level 2 "steer and gas" is the tasks with other human drivers - real life has accidents, stucked roads were you have to u-turn and negotiate with other drivers, etc ... that's afaik the "full driving task" that involves vehicle2human communication - and afaik this v2h com. is not solved at all at the moment .... besides that George is a legend :)

Left side of the road driving to right, habitual thinking is difficult to switch until it is practised, and so is switching from solid state physical manifestation in Time to temporal superposition of substantiation. Eg the gyroscopic stability of rotational motion is perceived as a type of inertia, directional momentum holding you upright when riding a push bike, because it's an example of Conduction in an aligned phase of condensation orthogonal-normal to the unity of surrounding solid matter. (Just fun to imagine merging probability wave-package convergences, don't know if it fits with driving programs) You can guess what Gravity is. Reality Hack.

It is a logical fallacy to draw safety conclusions from autopilot disengagement data. Just because autopilot disengages more frequently than a human crashes does not imply that current self driving systems are less safe. Statistically autopilot 2 is safer than a human WHEN ENGAGED. It's the subset of drive conditions that we currently do not have self driving telemetry for which are less safe by way of comparison. Other than that, groundbreaking presentation.

@chrisrosenkreuz234 жыл бұрын
@Simon Chase yup Einstein stole most of his thesis from Henri Poincare and some ideas from his own wife. And he wasn't actually smart to begin with, if you hold him in high regard you should look into historical context. I don't blame you because it's easy to confuse academic prestige with actual value. Well, to be honest it really isn't, since the former is void of the latter but I digress. If you can name just ONE original invention or discovery that guy has put forth I will eat my hat. Spoiler alert: you couldn't and again I won't blame you, it's his fault. On the other hand, George Hotz has already given the world something pretty valuable if I may say so myself. However, I do believe your point stands: some folks are indeed smarter than others and more work or time spent won't change that

I don’t understand something. If he is teaching AI to drive like humans... how will he make it drive better then humans? The problem is in how humans drive.
@RealFlash1007 жыл бұрын
The AI learn from both the bad and the good drivers. It learns what to do from the good drivers and what not to do from the bad drivers. This will make it better than the average human driver, which (as he said in the talk) is a win.

The machines do not have emotions. We, human, always do something with emotions aside, thats why sometimes it good or bad. For example, if you feel safe then you can drive faster otherwise you drive slower. But the machines are programmed by following the law without second thoughts
