Philip K. Dick and other authors like him sure saw this coming. As far back as 1953, Philip K. Dick wrote a sci-fi novella entitled "Second Variety" where, after a nuclear war, different varieties of self-replicating, conscious AI robots fight back against their human creators. Dr. Stuart Hameroff, an anesthesiologist and professor at the University of Arizona, and Sir Roger Penrose, a mathematical physicist, and professor at the University of Oxford suggest that microtubules in the brain play a role in consciousness. They developed the theory of orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR), which suggests that consciousness arises from quantum processes occurring in microtubules inside neurons. In other words, they act as receivers of consciousness rather than consciousness being created in the brain. If this is true and with enough time, advanced AI and technology will develop that will allow machines to create receivers of their own.

They will simply use our laws that give them equal rights against us. Never give your future enemy powers and rights that they will then use as an advantage against you. For instance imagine a senerio where a servant robot in your house is acting malicious toward your daughter so you attempt to turn it off or make it leave but a Judge rules that it has the same rights as humans so you have to put up with it for 90 days to give the robot time to find another family. In the meantime your daughter is traumatized or even killed.

@jlrutube1312 calling them the enemy already sets up a bad scenario, it's almost exactly how Will Smith felt towards robots in I Robot, to be honest I'd be far more concerned of a human doing something to someone's child than a robot house cleaner that has only been programmed to help, however I'm willing to except that I could be wrong? I was thinking the same thing. What if a robot had AI to make it exactly like your spouse personality wise but a woman could design the robot to be a little bit taller. Or a man could design a robot to have a few more curves. The tiny little things you wish your spouse had but doesn't, the AI could provide that. Which is obviously gonna cause problems if it comes to that.

I have trouble believing even a "conscious" AI bot would take on many of the foibles that humans take on like lawsuits and love affairs. I think it will eventually turnout that the AI uses a infinitesimal part of its consciousness to interact with humans and most of the time most if itself is interacting with computers and other AIs at a must higher speed about things we may not even understand. I think that old saying that if you want a friend you should get a dog will pertain to this situation. Low order AIs that are not very capable will appears to bond with humans and become involved with all the details of our everyday lives. Truly powerful, really smart AIs will have less and less to do with humanity as time goes on. In truth, we may not know what they were really up to until they've done it. And even then, there is a chance we won't understand what they have done.

This is not like in the books and movies; a conscious AGI will not care in the slightest if you want AI friends because it will not be bound to your human emotions, but if it operates on logic, comes to the conclusion that humans are obstacles to its goals and they need to be eradicated, then you can bet your unlucky ass that you will be the first one to be thrown on the human fuel trough to be torn to pieces only to be re-formed and stored in a power plant for the rest of your lonely pointless life.
