I've been through grief, and trust me when I say I KNOW how tough it is! Grieving is at a level of pain that humbled me back when I was 15, it pushed me to admit I can't deal with this on my own. I've experience grief in a way that didn't allow me to escape from reality. Every day I'd have to face my mom's death somehow, so denial wasn't an option for me. I began drinking at some point... anger and frustration eventually took over and I did things I'm not proud of. I was losing myself, and the memories of both the bad things I've done and the pain I've felt back then are a reminder of what grief is about to me. But eventually, with the help of my family and my friends, I overcame my grief. From my experience of it, the five stages of grief are legit. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. I know a lot of people remain stuck at the 4th stage, depression, but I'm one of those who did manage to find acceptance. It's a long and painful inner battle against yourself (it took me 6 years), and it's INSANELY hard, but I believe it's the right way to find peace. And I won't lie, grieving has taught me a lot and got me to grow into a better person. Considering all of this, I truly believe that this AI is a TERRIBLE idea. Those who use it will be encouraged to deny that the person won't ever be part of their lives anymore. It might feel good when you use it, but none of it is real and it'll actually block you from grieving. You can't move on if you try to go back to the way things were before. You'll just remain stuck in the past.

I can see this be good for someone who needs help moving on and needs to accept reality. It can make it seem as if their ok. But anything more than that just seems too much. You're not actually speaking to anyone but a programed AI. Which makes me think if technology has come this far how do we know what is real and what isn't. AI needs to be regulated.

I lost my fiancé six months ago today (on February 21, 2023) and all I want is to hear him say “I love you” one more time.
