@@Andrea-LovesYouStill yes but capitalism needs customers. If there's no workforce, there's no pay. No pay means no customers. Result, capitalism dies. So either all production will become state owned and productivity will be spread throughout the population via the government. Communism wins! ...or, the tech corporations get taxed humongously and the, now unemployed, population is paid a ubi from the state. Socialism wins. Either way, capitalism will lose all meaning. This may be OK as productivity will hockeystick, so we can all live like kings in a world of exponentially escalating resources. I think that the cost savings will have to get passed down - but that doesn't mean CEOs won't still profit insanely. Remember: reduced production costs and higher consistent quality means there will be lots more competition - thus driving prices down due to easy, cheap market availability of most products. Once a stable base price settles, it'll then be a game of brand recognition and loyalty. It's the CEOs of the most frequented brands that will become the wealthiest.

Satisfying work has given humans one aspect of _purpose_ also referred to as "something to do in life". If humans keep inventing ways to remove activities that give us _purpose_ in life, don't we lose interest in life? Without _purpose_ we quickly become bored, aimless then lethargic, and eventually lose all interest in living. A few movies have explored this issue such as Serenity (on the planet Miranda), and other shows that suggest AI becomes sentient and rises up against it's makers. Either way, these issues are what Malcolm expressed in Jurassic Park, "Your Scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should".

This means that governments will simply print and spend even more money to counteract any deflationary forces that may arise. Your stuff is NOT going to get any cheaper. 2. Low quality goods are NOT mainly caused by the limitations of human workers. That is certainly a factor, but the main reason for low quality is consumers who demand ever-cheaper prices. Often the only way to do this is to use cheaper materials or processes, which leads to shoddy goods. You will never see the disappearance of cheap and low quality goods until consumers change their preferences.

People fail to realize they are allowed to exist today as mere peasants, working their 9 to 5 job, so that they can be milked like cows. The elite gain their wealth from miking these cows daily. Just as greedy elite turned to cheaper labor markets and discarded the Western labor force, so will the elite discard humans altogether as they tap into the cheapest labor yet, robots. Who will pay the universal basic income, the billionaires owning the robots? So far, billionaires have been more inclined to keep their money as they influence governments to take more control of populations, to thwart the inevitable uprising, like we see in China today.Someday, people will wake up and realize the utopia that is being built will not include them, just as their not included in the billionaires club now. Keep in mind that peasants consuming resources like food, water, and fuels will likely be discouraged or eliminated due to their wasteful nature of simply existing in the utopia. Don't be fooled, folks. If they describe a utopia that we will live in, it will be short-lived for the average Joe.

Yet many people are too busy to look after their own health, resulting in them being fat. If they don't have to work then that leaves time for things like proper exercise and paying attention to the quality and amount of food you eat (instead of eating junk to cope with a stressful job).
@simianbarcode30117 ай бұрын
One major correction: Most of these robots disrupting current industries won't be "humanoid". Robots will be far, FAR more efficient if they are designed for a specific range of tasks. They will need to be MANY different shapes and sizes. Some will be flat like Roombas. Some will be insectoid or spiderlike. Some will be "dog"-shaped, like the ones from Boston Dynamics. Some will be simple boxes with wheels and a bunch of arms on top. Some will mimic other animals like dolphins or snakes or turtles. Many will just be aerial drones with various attachments to change their function as needed. Relatively FEW will be "humanoid". There are only 3 actual reasons to make a human-shaped robot: 1. To deceive people into thinking they are human. 2. To "replace" a loved one who is dead. 3. Sex. For literally ANY other task, there are LIMITLESSS other shapes and sizes that are FAR more efficient to use than "humanoid".
