@@vectorhacker-r2 I think o3 gets us closer to AGI but it not being agentic automatically disqualifies it from being considered as an AGI. It has to not just be agentic but agentic to the point of requiring no human supervision. It can plan ahead and execute any mental or job related task a human can perform (it doesn’t necessarily have to be embodied though that certainly helps). Ability to actually learn from its mistakes and reason. Not fail at basic logic and arithmetic. But more importantly, it has to be proactive. Not reactive like current LLMs are. They have to be prompted to execute a task. An AGI needs no prompting. It can just do it, with or without human instruction. But I do think that there is a good chance we’ll get AGI by the end of the decade. I don’t think we’ll get it next year. 2026 at best. It could take several years longer than that.

Genesis is mostly an algorithmic physics sim afaik. The generation part is just assembling pieces into a scene within the simulator. It's impressive mostly for being a good sim not for the AI component. The AI is not the actual simulator.

The problem is, like with all AI, that the meshes generated by Trellis are "almost good" but still pretty shitty upon closer inspection. So it does not take away modelling work, it transforms it into bothersome cleanup work, exactly the kind of work which you'd hope to get automated away. How about they release a working retopology/remesh model before another bullshit generating model for a change?

0:50 6:30 These are not AI generated videos. The first on is taking existing video shot from multiple angles and putting it into a 3D environment like Blender and rendering a 3D world. The Genesis one is also just a 3D modelling program generating CG. I'm sure it's better, but they've been doing this since Jurassic Park in the 90s. They've also been doing this with corn for a long time. The 3D corn you moved around on screen is the perfect example. It's just a 3D rendered world.

That colorflow AI is wild! Think of what this can do for video compression! Video compression plays tricks on your mind, literally, with YUV and it's compression factors (4:2:0, 4:4:4, ...), which is all information that needs to be stored. I'm guessing that if you have a video format that only shows the color of new unseen things on scene (for the technical inclined, a bit of a hybrid between scene detection and knowing which parts have already been shown in color) and shows everything else in b/w. Then use something like colorflow to "color in" the frames in real time and you'd have (much) better compression. The colorflow model for this doesn't even have to be small for it to still be a net gain. As long as the same model can be used on any number of videos in this hypothetical compression and as long as it can be applied real time.

Not quite correct on volumetric video. Volumetric refers to the X/Y/Z posiiton of the pixel, not just X/Y in camera space, in addition to the color. If you do that, you actually have a 3D model of the scene, whcih allows you to then have an AI that can "merge" between the scenes taken by the separate cameras.

Think about the fact that most AI is being run on traditional computers, I can't even fathom what they're seeing on quantum machines behind closed doors.
