Brilliant, vipond33, and reeks of Japanese quality and simplicity. I'm moving to Quito, Ecuador in a couple weeks and hope to find a woodworker to make me one. Thanks for your inspiration.

Nice work. I have been planning on making one of these for some time. I first saw one on Begin Japanology on you tube. This is only the 2nd one i have seen whilst researching this stool and it looks great. Im trying to get a feel for the size of it, and what the angle of the uprights are. If you could help in way, it would be much appreciated. Thanks for posting.

Sorry, only just read your comment today. The top is 5" x 8" and the uprights are set at a 60 degree angle with a height of 3 3/4". I derived the scale of it from taking screenshots from the Japanology video. I'm a lifelong cabinetmaker with an interest in Japanese woodcraft.

That's exactly where I first saw this type of stool too! 😁 I'd love to make one. Fantastic work!

@@vipond33 Awesome stool. Curios as to what is it used for though. I feel like building it. Is the size you mention above 5"x8" and height of 3 3/4" sufficient for seating on it? Thanks in advance.

Don't rely on this info, as stool is bigger than that!

@@ashokmoghe8035 Sort of. You rest your bottom on it while kneeling on the floor. Watch Begin Japanology's Sashimono episode, the host demonstrates at the end.
