Awesome video Harry with some brilliant advice, particularly about the solid foods. Any ambitions to run Westernstates? I would love to see you competing there.

I'm doing my first half marathon this September, making the jump from 10k. Had been planning to concentrate on the 5k distance but the half marathon worked with the schedule I had and still allows me to do my planned 5k in November.

Thanks for sharing Harry! Always love the advice you give! :-) First mountain trail Ultra in October and it's going to be a challenging one! Might seem far away but you know how quickly time flies!

Hi Harry.Firstly love your videos.I have got my first ultra of 50k in July, which I'm so pumped for☺ Was wondering what advice you could give me? The furthest I have ran so far in training is 20 miles but the longest race I have ran was 25k,so I know this is going to be tough and a real test for me.It's mainly trails and about 2000metres of ascent.can't wait for this🏃

Hi Harry Are you doing UTA again this year? I did the 50 last year and loved it! The atmosphere was awesome. I'm doing the 100 this year - and prepping now - keen as to see what I am capable of.

I'm doing my first ultra, UltraVasan i August. It's the track of the quite famous Vasaloppet, a cross-country skiing 90k event. Not much climbing at all (a part from first 15 k), possibly even a net loss of altitude. Hope it will be a nice first Ultra race :)

How do you build up your long runs to prepare for these ultra races

Thanks for addressing the pee question. I always wondered if you can sweat enough to not need to pee; finally I've got the answer. :)

Haha there may be someone out there, but I don't think your kidneys would be in particularly a good state if that happened. It's important to keep in mind the bodies needs.

Just found your channel and I am really enjoying it! Any advice for helping me grow my new running channel? I see you have a variety of different running topics and videos, do you think that is a good idea for me to try to grow my viewership? Thanks and keep up the great content.

Great advice, Harry! Could you give me some please? I am a 55 year old runner who will be competing in the Lakes in a day 50 miler with 4000m of climb in October. This will be my first ultra. I have run marathons and have a resonable fitness level. I live in Cambridgeshire which is flat as a pancake. I know I will not find anything remotely similar to this in my area. Any session you can recommend? Thank you.

K Bedingfield Stair machine in the gym may be a good alternative or try finding a steep hill to go to at the weekend and just smash hill repeats

I have to ask, how harder is 100k comparing to 50k?

Different and longer, but not necessarily harder.
@HarryRunsUK6 жыл бұрын
Every race is different, its not always about the distance, some 100kms will feel good and some 50kms incredibly hard and vice versa. The most important thing to remember is making sure you are prepared for the race you are toeing the line on. Making your training specific to the demands of that race. If you have never ran a 100km race before, then as a generalisation you are likely to be out on your legs for a lot longer than you have previously in a 50km race, which will be a new challenge, you may have to run through the night which may be a new concept, it may have more vert, more focus on fuelling yourself effectively etc.. Unless the 50km race had some crazy vertical! If you give your all on race day at the limit of your fitness then a 50km and 100km can both feel as hard as each other.
