Fun fact for everyone including the replay Aidan O'Sheit has appeared in 7 all ireland finals and has not got a single score in any of them ..... for comparison Lee Keegan the defender managed 2-4 over that same time he was absolutely terrible in the semi final 2021 frankly nearly cost them the match and the second I saw him starting in the final I knew mayo were fucked

Lee Keegan doesn't have 3 or 4 men swarm him anytime he gets the ball, and when he does he's much more likely to win the free than O'Shea thanks to his stature. O'Shea plays a role in freeing up his team mates, at least he did in his prime. Scored a great point against Kerry this past weekend, we'll see if this KZbinr makes a video about that. Must be doing something right if other counties pile on him this much.

Go ahead and look back to the finals that Mayo lost by the skin of their teeth. Donal Vaughan's lack of discipline, Rob Hennelly choking under pressure, Rochford replacing Clarke with Hennelly in the first place, a Colm Boyle own goal, a Kevin McLoughlin own goal. O'Shea is no more guilty than any of them. Otherwise how did they come so close so often with such a supposed awful player?

@@kurtpunchesthings2411 Leeg Keegan isn't just any defender. And look at Paddy Durcan, he's outscored plenty of Mayo forwards in Croker. Sometimes against defense set ups, the scoring opportunities come just inside the 45, and it's the lads running towards the goal (half and full backs, midfielders) from deep that get the opportunities. It's a bad stat, and I'm sure Aidan hates it, and he has missed so many chances, but you aren't contextualising the stat at all

Hes been a great servant that has beem too heavily relied upon going into croagh park. I've yet to see him play good up there. The last few seasons havent been his greatest tho. Might be entering the territory of holding younger generations back down because he's been there so long.

Aidan has struggled to impact the game but he is, by all accounts, a great footballer on his day and doesn't deserve the stick that saddos like you give him. He could've gone to Aussie like every other good, physical GAA player, but he's playing for free at home and this is what he gets. I've got far better entertainment and days out following Mayo than any other team or sport. This is quite literally secondary school bullying. It's one thing when people banter Fred for United, man is on 100k a week. This is a low in a league of its own. Fair play man

Out of the entire panel, Aiden is the only one that comes to mind, except that as the years have gone on it's become harder for 'big' lads to play the modern game. There's a reason there aren't many lads with Aidan's build playing intercounty. Was Colm Boyle genetically gifted? No, he was 5ft nothin' and worked hard to be strong and fit. Keith Higgins? Same deal. Today, O'Hora was a feckin army ranger or something and owes his fitness to that, Enda Hession only has muscle mass because he plays football, if not for that he'd be small and skinny. If I had his body I would be playing county too. Sporting success is mainly about genetics. A short small framed man like me couldn't have been a successful footballer no matter how hard I trained. If you look at an u-14 team photo you can tell who are going to be the future top senior players just by looking at their body and frame.
