It looks like Lil' Shammy changed their KZbin name to Shamsuk. Oops! Anyway this is the link to their channel lots of good stuff there
And the subreddit for Aidyn Chronicles is also linked, there is a wonderful active community there that can answer any of your questions, and you can also find some fun NEW ways to play the game :)
I think I first played Aidyn Chronicles when I was 11 years old. I remember in my first playthrough that I never leveled up Dexterity because I didn't know what Dexterity meant. Strength? Hell yeah. That's an easy one.
But I never bought it, I just had to rent it all the time. Eventually like 23 years later I saw a copy at a local game store and decided to play through it again.
And honestly? I think I enjoyed it even more mostly because now I understand the game systems and most importantly, what the word "dexterity" means. At least as it relates to video games.
This is less of a review, more of a nostalgic recollection and description of the game systems, characters, and story. It gets pretty rambly at times, and I'm pretty loose with the editing (because I hate it) but I hope you enjoy it!

Appreciate the shoutout and really glad to find others who are hardcore fans of this game just as much if not more so than myself! Name change I figured was something more relatable to the actual game versus fan artwork that was created. I played Necro back in the old Diablo two days and even though he is a bad dude, Shamsuk is still my favorite, idk why still to be 100 percent honest. I was right around the same age when I first got my hands on the game as well. I think for me not knowing how all the mechanics worked and even later getting the guidebook PDF online that is hit and miss on its info was all a part of the amazing journey Aidyn has to offer. Personally, I have to go back to Aidyn maybe once every other year at least to just give it a glance if not a full playthrough to remember the good old simpler times. This nostalgic recollection and description of the game was excellent! What a breath of fresh air to actually get a review-type deal from an actual fan who played it fully through and was more than fair. Your diplomacy and loremaster skills of this game are very high! I hope all who watch this will go back and reminisce on their personal fond memories of the game or give it a try for newcomers alike. Thank you very much again for all your hard work and dedication put into this project!

I will always love this game, despite its flaws. I love needlessly ambitious games that push hardware to its limits. Plus at the time I was an RPG fan that only had a Sega Genesis and N64 so I was starved for meaty roleplaying experiences.

That being said, if anyone wants to play the game, I recommend to use a high accuracy emulator that support N64 CPU overclock. Aidyn Chronicle is one of those game really, really beneficiate it without having any issues. The change to FPS is amazing.

This game was WAY ahead of its time. I believe it's due for a remake. In the right hands and minds, I believe this game could be a masterpiece that will spawn several different sequels and media. I can tell that the lore of the world was WAY too heavy for the N64 at the time, and they couldn't implement everything that they wanted to the way it was in their heads.

I recently picked this game up, as I heard it was bad - it really isn't. It's a solid DnD inspired rpg with a lot to explore and mess around with. The open world is really what gets me, it's fairly detailed (with the expansion pak as it adds some foliage!) and the landscapes you see when getting to higher elevation are MAGNIFICENT. Love me some low-poly open world scenes. Thank you for bringing attention to this game. Also if you put "!crawdaddy" in the rename character option, you turn into a crab which is just the cherry on top.

I played this game so much as a kid. It was a very save-scummy type of game though. There were few areas where enemies respawned.. so I remember fighting enemies in some basement for weeks before progressing. The thing that killed the game for me was the later combats. There would be 10 enemies... and each would like.. cast a spell to buff every other monster. Which would be okay, except it centered on each monster for like 3 seconds each time. Grinding in this RPG was like being in a black hole. You could literally spend an entire hour fighting one monster group. It was crazy. I also got some random great skill or item from some monster in a basement.. great? Yeah sure. Now that I knew you could obtain the item from that one encounter, I had to get that on my subsequent playthroughs.. and oh my rnjesus was that hard. You might encounter 1 level 2 rat, or you might encounter the man in robes boss and 3 golems or whatever. It was way too random for a game that had limited encounters. Yeah, you could restart the game and grind random mobs in the overworld, but certain encounters were 1-time-only so if you didn't get a good encounter, you'd have to restart if you wanted a leg-up... which you needed. I will forever love this game, but I think the only way to play is on an emulator with 100x speed and 3 different guides open so you don't accidently miss something. It is a fun game to play for the story but holy cow it's almost like Chrono Trigger, in which you can't possibly figure out the entire story in one playthrough because you can only have a limited number of people in your party and they all have unique interactions.

Thanks for watching! The game can be hard and is indeed very tedious. Which makes losing kind of worse. But you can also do silly things like cast Stupidity on beasts/ogres/bats and whatnot and you will autowin because they will be too stupid to take a turn. And once your party's dexterity gets high you often end up steamrolling. But early game is frustrating with all the misses, especially at night

I played the hell out of this game back when it came out. Glitched the game so Farris was a permanent party member. Maxed stealth and crawled all the way to the desert from the start of the game. There's quite a bit of replay value in just messing around and seeing what you can break. Which is the thing that ultimately holds the game back. It breaks so often, even when you're not trying to break it. It was an odd, ugly little duck, even ugly for its time. But it was well worth the experience.

I vaguely remember the main character art work, but wow - i remember nothing else about this game. Isn’t it so weird that little Abrecan starts out at level 8 as opposed to the warrior of LONELY MOUNTIAN Becan at level 6? I figured with be much older and wiser his experience/skills should have reflected that a bit more. At least Becan can learn thief for more backstab damage. Pandara’s amulet I do believe will trigger a cutscene if Alaron is wearing it when you first enter through the Jundar desert and will give you some advice. Can’t remember what she says though…. Beg to report sir, I’ve heard of people on the game’s social handles who said you could fight and kill Arturo but never seen evidence of it before when you first meet him on the bridge. Side note: merging with spirit self (speaks backwards) gives you a few maxed-out spells, maxed wizard and stealth, along with some minor stat upgrades. Side note 2: Get your name from the dragon and then go back to Terminor to recruit Dougal to dodge his betrayal and keep him in your party if you so choose. Lodin’s sword and Light reaver are the only two weapons in the game that appear to be of their own special damage type that nothing in the game has resistances to which makes them so OP causing massive damage even to end-game enemies. To magic!

A couple things. First of all Mushroom was no perma issue to me on my 5 or 6 playthroughs... no clue about the shrinking thing. Secondly You gave no mention of the most broken protection spell in the game... Cheat Death gives a Chance to restore back to full health; or at least some health a character. Its a one per battle per character spell. After flat faces Bridge in that area is one copy of the spell and I forget where the second copy is found. Rhea, Aberon, Brenna... no substitutes Cannot help the choice. Buff and battle she is good with sword and bow; Alaron and Brena with spike balls to toss or swords and Aberon sword or bow. Magic was to expensive to really go ham with most times. Suk boss fight was the worst in the game... took about 10 tries as he kept one shooting my guys every match until I snuck around corners to surround and destroy. I actually remember the Barrow tomb in Jundar lands well. 2005-2010 was last time I played but forever I wish to see it come out remastered. Found multiple infinite fall SPOTS literal diameter of character areas on the map you could walkinto and by pushing forward exit. Kept replacing Aberon to check out new characters because game no other options. By the sounds of it you failed to scour the entire map; to many powerful weapons not mentioned and such... Did you know of cave near beach in first town near castle? Did you know of the hidden room in the castle you can access at start if you explore enough to find key before your team is full assembled that becomes inaccessible if team is made at start (3rd or 4th play through found it on accident near potion dude and the kitchen) might have fought a rat there. The Poison sword found in a camp near Kendals house. First play through I sunk 186+ hours into as I tried to find literally everything as I searched for a fight vs a dragon as the back of box showed... the fight was scrapped if what I heard was true. I am certain I still missed things. Best N64 game and I'll die on that hill. It tried to be Oblivion but was crammed into a N64 cartridge which explains all the bugs and glitches and generally incomplete feel of entire thing. To this day I consider the given final boss as a scam. According to Lore there should of been more.

@@Sevoran117 I tried the mad alchemist instead of Rhea once... not again goes against my play style. Beacon is the same; tried him once and was very much not impressed... no clue I only needed to wait for the cool dialogue. Biggest omission of yours tho was making a point about just how dark souls the fights with minions could be. Be travelling around stomping rats... exp and gold yay... no it was 1 rat and 9 bandits. F'n Bandits killed me about every other time they showed up in mass.. Thats why I had ranged weapon and melee on every member of the party. One would need to hit from far and fast and hard to even consider winning vs those A holes. I see a wild bandit and get antsy... well do I feel lucky; well do I punk... about sums up my thoughts. Chaos beasts much easier for me; they did not chuck death at me from across the map the whole fight like the bandits would. Plus they were basically cockroaches that would not die dodging and citing often on top of being everywhere.
