The game itself is the social experiment, getting people to play just to merely understand what it is trying to teach, when in fact there is no point to the game. "Crowd Psychology"
@flyingtentacle76315 жыл бұрын
I have zero ability to write an actual story or produce anything that has any meaning to it so I'll just say it has a deep meaning and let people make something up for me. -This developer. I get the feeling that 99% of the people that use the word "social experiment" don't even know what an experiment is. By this definition, every game ever developed is a social experiment.
@nicolaspinto29275 жыл бұрын
@@flyingtentacle7631 It's a game as art type thing that has an accompanying animation short and museum thing. Check out the website for more info on it. The point of the game really only exists within that framework, a sort of commentary through visual media kind of thing.

@@garorobe It's as much of a game as SimCity or Dwarf Fortress is, and most people consider those as being games. Even better, at least this has an end state. Visual novels and text adventures are also considered games despite being nothing more than the electronic version of choose-your-story books (which from that, I would consider them a form of paper game). I am aware that purists or pedants would argue that colloquial use of the term "game" is too loose but most people don't care about theoretical mish-mashing to begin with. It's enough of a game to be a game, just like a milk crate is enough of a chair to be sat upon quite satisfactorily.

This game and my math test have something in common... ...that they're both not understandable
"KIDS" isn't a random word, children are the ultimate crowd psychology. If majority doesn't agree with you - you are ostracised. If you disagree with majority - you are ostracised. But even when you are ostracised you aren't left alone, because pointing out that an opinion is different is a form of showing that yours is right. Being wrong is penalised, so you must be right at all cost or you will be punished. The result of this is bullying - endless cycle of proving you are right and he/she isn't. If you disagree, you either go against your will and join others in bullying to be "right", or become a new target. When there are enough targets to form a group - you are finally able to stand up and say that they are wrong and you are right, if you sound convincing enough, others will join you. Then the ones who disagree with the other side, but don't agree with your side will join you - suddenly you are the new majority and the other side are the ones who need to make their choice. If you are alone and proven to be "right", that means majority is "wrong", but being wrong is absolutely unacceptable, so it is you, who is "wrong", even if you are "right". The only way for you to become "right" is to win over the majority. There is no neutral side. Adults are more lenient, because not accepting that you may be wrong can and will result in a financial disaster, so they are forced to accept multiple opinions.

Wow, crowd psychology is scary! Everyone be careful not to get swept by the flow too.
This game has made me so sad because I actually understand it. Seeing someone that is part of the "first" group, knowing that his group is going to fall apart and follow something different that they first did it's like religions, when someone comes with a great idea, his first followers do something, but when time comes, everyone starts to follow something really different (example: cristianism; the first disciples followed the Jewish law at the same time as the "love the neighbour", but when time comes, they blewed up everything and crusades has come. With more time, protestant religions, etc...)

This game has multiple meanings but « normal » people can’t even get one. It tries to teach us how powerful the crowd can be, and make us ask the question : « what’s best between counting on yourself and having integrity despite of being hated of everyone (the crowd) ? Or being part of the crowd even if it goes the wrong way ? But if it’s a crowd, if they are all going in the same way, they are going the right way, right ? that’s what everyone would think... The « normal » one, making fun of the lonely guy who thinks his own way, and just, follows the crowd, like everyone. (that was long for nothing ! XD I hope the people who read this understand a little more about this strange ass game !) yay i got likes !! XD
For some weird reason i thought i saw english subs at the beginning *10 percent japanese instinct kicks in*

I can't be the only one who finds the way Kizuna interprets the situations of this game fascinating; at one point, roughly 8:22, Kizuna says "It looks like they agreed" in response to one of the characters saying "alright, I'll do it" after the other "kids" point at the character saying "You do it"; give the context of this, that it is supposed to be a group of children deciding who has to do something, with every other kid singling out one kid to do it, and that kid caving in, to human who has the experiences and they'll notice the theme of peer pressure in that piece; but Kizuna has a very cold response: "It looks like they agreed". I'm not against A.I., in fact I adore the topic and hope to one day be in the field to this depth, but it's a little uncanny how close, yet so far we are from integrating A.I. properly into our social fabric. And Kizuna is a valuable insight should we ever wish to probe farther down this road.

3:27 I’m not mishearing this right? Are those Australian accents? XD
I think it’s some kind of peer-pressure metaphor...
@maplesyrup65295 жыл бұрын
A better way to understand this game would be comparing it to peer pressure, that’s why when one of them says something slowly they all agree, the human mind and body doesn’t not want to be alone or singled out, so it instinctively agrees when large numbers of fellow humans want to do something

An example of crowd psychology was the clap. Have you ever tried clapping after someone finishes their sentence? There’s always that one person. I know from experience that if you clap loud enough, others will follow EVERY, SINGLE, TIME. I also know that if a kid makes a claim about another kid, even if that kid is lying, other kids will follow. If you run and leave someone behind, that person will follow. If you run towards an attraction, people will follow. Big crowds attract a lot of attention, and the people at the back of the big crowd can’t really see whats happening in the front so they wanna, move towards the front. Eventually, everybody would get squished together in an attempt to see what is at the center of the crowd. So, theoretically, if there were to be a giant hole in the center of a big crowd closed off to cameras, people would fall in until there is only a few left. THAT is crowd psychology: to blindly follow others out of curiosity or personal reasons

Can't understand a thing but Kizuna's reaction makes it worth it.
