Nice to find out. It isn’t hard at all, but there are many levels of practice. Just try to improve the internal soul and center, just for yourself and in respect with the partners. Succes !!!

Please consider if you are prepared for real punches, kicks, or grappler style takedowns. After a couple of years in Iwama Style I determined it had very limited effectivness, and thought there was a cultish atmosphere.

@@johnrooney507 Aikido is in a way communication. We have in our dojo several karate and jujitsu practitionars who are developing there martial art trough pricipals of aikido. It can help.

In order to attract the attention of God(Goddess) before expressing our gratitude to God(Goddess) for his (her) regard and benediction on us. It’s a regular process in Shintoism or Japanese local religion. I googled this. Sorry for my late reply.

Dan Lewis if I may , clapping on entering a shrine is too receive a blessing from the Shinto god, it is also to receive a gift. In this case showing you are ready to receive the gift of knowledge imparted by one’s teacher, if bad spirits sod off , all the better, but they are usually within oneself.
