You should go to a competitive TKD dojang, not just a casual school. The competitive side is very unique in terms of certain body movements and mechanics. Most people have a fixed idea in their head of what TKD is, but it can be so different depending on the school and objective. Most people never see the fascinating and brutal side of its competition world.

@@williamsmith8790 There are many Asian with the last name Fong from my long career in government. Yes he told me his name but I did not know who he was until he told me what type of business he was opening which made me ask his first name.
@tommckellen3425 ай бұрын
Unfortunately if you want to keep the Asian arts relevant, this guy might be one step in the right and one step in the wrong direction. The point with Bruce Lee is that he didn’t feel the need to invoke the ativistic gods of ‘face’ in other words ‘giving face to’ (or not, not giving face to, if there are areas in the Chun which are good, which there are) Wing Chun, just because of a cultural idea. People might think that the opposite of face is something crushing and harsh, but that’s not necessarily true, is it? The idea that a Chunner will be ‘99 percent mental energies’ in the face of a half decent opponent is, I’m afraid Bullshido. This idea is supposed to be following the lore of Chan or Zen (and sometimes Tao) where many of these principles come from but it actually shows someone who follows nouveau Chan/Zen or Tao. Please try to understand this for yourself. Even the old style of elastic/ fascea training could be challenging. Yes meditative too, but by no means singularly easy from the bodies’ perspective (although there are medititive practices which are based around simple relaxation too)

Man! I am glad that you are finding real martial arts masters to show this stuff. I have been saying for years that you can tell if a teacher is good or not at teaching when someone asks a tough question. And then, you can tell if they are going to be a great teacher when they are asked a question that they don't know the answer to. To a good teacher, and good student will reveal the teacher's ignorance and they can journey together to learn something new.

I love this. I wish Wing Chun schools trained with those chest protectors more. Constantly getting slammed in the chest with chi sau is not good for cultivating energy and reeks havoc on your body unnecessarily. Plus with the chest protector you can really experiment with the energy instead of injuring your partner or merely satisfying your ego. If that guy wasn't wearing it he would have been keeled over on the floor with the first hit. The whole iron shirt training is so unnecessary today. Plus, it won't help you when you get get hit in the neck, head, knees, or groin lol. Internal energy is key. great video Kevin.

F=MA Whereas M=density x volume and A=distance/time. Density is synapse from the mind which you control muscle contraction right at time of impact. Flexibility allows faster acceleration without requiring longer traveled distance. Combination of density and acceleration yields greater impact force.
@pcasso378313 күн бұрын
Correction, A=distance/time^2. Rather than just considering mechanical force, maybe consider mechanical power, i.e. kinetic energy delivered per unit time by the punch?

Love this! There’s a lot of bullshito around so I always thought those videos of Taichi masters pushing people lightly and sending them flying was staged nonsense too. Until I trained with this Taichi master. He was in his 70s, a full head shorter than me. He would tap my elbows and my knees would buckle. It was mind blowing. It took me a long time to understand that he was able to leverage the internal structure of my body to transfer force, so even a small amount of pressure created a big effect. I was basically falling over myself.

Using G ( G = m*v ) to trascend power in physics. Thats why junk bowl has so much velocity if hit by slow moving car. Car has much higher mass. The G is transfered to dustbin which has 50 times smaller mass and therefore 50 higher velocity after energy transfer. Principle used here.

It's such a delight to see Sifu Fong in action! I'm from Europe and the biggest share of Wing Chun schools here are simply rubbish. They have nothing to do with the art shown in this video. And the biggest problem is that they are highly ineffective while telling their students that only their system is the only one useful for self defense. Their only justification to claim that they make "real Wing Chun" is that the brother of the uncle of the facility manager once in his life saw the housekeeper of a direct Ip Man student. That's it. And many people without any martial arts experience fall for this crap. It's a complete disgrace to this awesome martial arts!
