Ailee is amazing. She's had to fight very hard to get to where she's at right now. She's had bad publishers in the past that didn't really support her as well because she didn't fit in with the korean beauty standards. And that's absurd. She was getting blocked from making tv appearances and promoting her work for years. She has one of the best vocals for live performances and only a handful of people within her generation come close to her

@@alongfortheridereacts I'm Korean, and this is the first time I've heard that Ailee didn't become popular because she didn't fit the Korean standard of beauty. (No one said Ailee wasn't pretty) It's just that her agency didn't have much power, so she didn't appear on many shows~ Ailee still has a ton of fans. Ailee is also nicknamed the Korean Beyonce.

I am Korean and Aliee is beautiful enough to be in K-pop Industry. Some people complain about her body shape and she herself talks about her weight obsession and stress but she is more beautiful than Korean standards! The only reason she didn't make it big in Korea is because she was in an incompetent, irresponsible, and bad agency.

The amount of times i see normal looking Korean artists/idols get criticized and bullied cuz they have a bit of a figure is insane, idols literally get pressured to go on extreme diets to fit into those standards by their music labels not to talk about the plastic surgery too. It's a huge issue and we shouldn't act like this doesn't happen cuz then things will never change.

I went to her concert in June, her energy was insane! Ailee is one hell of a performer. She was funny, interactive and overall a beast on stage. If you have a chance, please go see her live performance at least once in your life. You won't regret it.

In a nutshell, she was born in Denver, Colorado & moved to fort Lee, New Jersey when she was 7, where she had grown up ( she had been a church choir in Korean church since a child ). Spending 1 yr. as a christian missionary somewhere after graduating from Pace Univ. in New York State, she made u-turn to her motherland, S. Korea, to become a K-pop star, cuz you can't make it as a singer in the USA if you are born as a Asian. I got this information when she appeared on Japanese TV show that was shown on YT about 8 yrs. ago. *Pace University, and she didn't finish college actually, she dropped out to move to South Korea:). Ailee has never been married (she's engaged now) and she doesn't have a kid actually. Maybe you mixed her up with Wonder Girls' Sunye? she was indeed a missionary and is now married with kids and looks a bit like Ailee.

the Goblin OST is called I Will Go To You Like The First Snow it's still one of the most popular kdrama OST till this day, this song won best OST at that time and will comeback to korean chart every winter season. it's such a legendary song.

Incidentally, the following thought flashed through my mind while watching it for the 2nd time; judging only from this video such as her behavior hopping out of the stage at the end, she seems to possess a sunny ( or nice ), a bit reserved, & placid personality that is engaging & charming ( but she is fully confident as well observing the way she was singing w/o a break at all w/ that confident singing attitude ). So, I would regard her as nothing short of a respectful, admirable ( not arrogant or complacent ) person & the extraordinary singer like the mamamoo as you indicated. It was fun and enjoyable I guess you've seen Korean dramas Korean dramas often include OSTs I also watched Goblin and I really liked the OST I'll Go to You Like the First Snow So I was looking for Ailee and came across this video And there's a singer section called GUMMY on KillingVoice She's called the queen of OSTs in Korea She sang OSTs for many hit dramas like Descendants of the Sun, Hotel Del Luna, Love in the Moonlight, etc. GUMMY's OSTs are from KillingVoice. I hate killing voice and K-pop because of all vocal correction and editing they do, but Ailee and Big Mama (they are probably the best female vocal group in the world) are just vocal divas on another level, their own songs don't even show their actual skill. Ailee I will always love you it's the easily best cover of that song, you can watch it if you have time.
