Aileen, you are my favorite contact staff artist! Watching you fills me with the awe of watching a diving hawk, and the peace of gently rustling leaves, soaked in the morning light.

I don't see how many people could watch this video and not want to try this out for themselves. So smooth and beautiful!

Watching Aileen inspires me to try this. I'm newly interested in flow arts and staff looks like it may be the easiest for me to pick up since I was in color guard in high school marching band.

Honestly you are amazing. I first saw this video after I nailed some bike tubes to a wooden dowel and made my first contact staff 4 months ago. At the time this video was simply inspiration for how beautiful contact staff can be if I stuck with it. As I've gotten better I've re-watched it, studied it, and stolen some of you're moves including those wonderful vertical shoulder wrap -> neck wrap combinations. And now I've come full circle and watch it again just to see how beautiful contact staff can be when executed with style. I saw you at lightning at a bottle spinning near the thunder stage and just ran away because I couldn't believe it was you. You rock.

I do Northern Shaolin Wushu, and Staff is my favorite weapon of choice so far. I also happen to o a lot of hooping. But, my friend was like YO YOU SHOULD TRY THIS and I kinda wanna. However, the staffs I'm used to are the bamboo ones, which are thinner at the front and thicker in the back. I'm 5"2' and my staff is probably like 5"7'. If I wanted to give this a shot, should I start out with a longer one since I'm used to having longer ones for martial arts? The heavier the better for me, ,I think.

Beautiful. I also find the lighter staffs much more liberating. I'm going to purchase one of these and was just wondering how the tubing width contributes and which you would recommend?
@aileenbean8 жыл бұрын
+Catherine McG I prefer 5/8, and feel that the width of the staff contribute greatly to the ease of flow, for sure.
