Ailey Project UK Summer Intensive 2022 | Dance Consortium | Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

We hear from dancers who took part in an in-person summer intensive programme as part of Ailey Project UK.
In August 2022, Milton Keynes Theatre played host to Dance Consortium's first-ever in-person Ailey Summer Intensive in the UK, led by the prestigious Ailey School Director Tracy Inman and world-renowned Ailey Dancer, Yannick Lebrun. As well as local young dancers, young people were recruited from around the UK to take part in the summer intensive programme.
Ailey Project UK aims to extend and deepen the connection with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, building on relationships initiated during our learning and engagement activities with the company in previous years. Aside from regular touring of the company and Ailey II, this exciting partnership not only creates a varied programme of high-quality engagement work that supports the development of the Black Dance sector in the UK: but also enables Dance Consortium member venues to have more meaningful links with their local black led dance groups both as participants and audience members.
