Great session! I’ve been playing halo since CE, I’m in my mid 30s now. I’m struggling in the plat 6 area, the diamonds seem to destroy me in most 1v1s so I’ve been avoiding conflict as much as possible until I know my teammates are with. I plan to get some coaching soon because I’m desperately trying to improve.

One effective technique to enhance your gameplay is 'mirror strafing.' When you land the first shot on an opponent, there's no need for erratic strafing to dodge their fire. Instead, focus on precision in your shooting. The key to maintaining accuracy after the initial hit is to mirror your opponent's movements using your left stick. If they shift right, you move right; if they go left, you follow suit. Perfect mirroring isn't always possible, as human reaction time takes a few milliseconds to process their movement direction. Aiming for the chest is a smart strategy here, as it's a larger target area and maximizes aim assist's effectiveness. For instance, if an enemy veers left, there's a slight delay before you react and adjust your left stick, possibly causing them to drift from your reticle. Aim assist can compensate for this by guiding your reticle back to the target. A common mistake is to overcorrect with the right stick in a panic, leading to erratic aiming and missed shots. The two players who do this the best are Shotzzy and Formal. You'll notice that their reticle always looks so smooth, largely because they are always mirror strafing. There are times where you need to strafe more erratically (counter strafe) but that's a lesson for another day.

Shyway you should run custom game lobbies for ppl that need to work on their aim.: then last day of lessons with the same “students” run 4v4 teams as balanced as possible. Players will learn off their teammates as well
@jackcolson474511 ай бұрын
I think to get your student's full perspective you should lock fps to 60 and turn on Vsync. That way you understand their mechanical limitations. You could recommend them settings that better fit the performance and input lag they are playing on.
@Shyway11 ай бұрын
I considered this - but regardless of performance-related limitations, good and bad aim habits are the same. We played Halo 5 on 60fps w/ vsync for 6 years, and the same rules applied. I did ofc ask about his setup, talk about the potential limitations and give him recommendations for the best experience.
@vigilantestylez11 ай бұрын
@@ShywayI agree but... Halo 5 had very strong aim assist. In comparison to Infinite. The input lag on a Xbox vs PC is substantial from my experience. You feel like you're fighting underwater or punching in your dreams as opposed to snappy ultra responsive play on a PC that is configured correctly. I think if the guy is on an Xbox series S or worse, he should adopt a sloth game style. Low sens controller, high FOV, and bot walk as much as possible. Then his aim will only be microcorrections and he can make up for the lag by getting first shots and good positioning. Now if he's on PC or a series X, then he can be a movement God. That's my humble opinion, but the video was very informative and I love all your videos. 😎💯💯💯

@@vigilantestylezlow key I disagree. you don't really gotta change your play style bcuz of hardware. im 1700 on 60 fps, im no bound but i wouldn't say i play like a sloth either lol. the limitations do suck but at the end of the day just grinding will make your mechanics competable with almost every skill level
@vigilantestylez11 ай бұрын
@@mihirkumar2403 I doubt that. It's not just FPS. For me to run the game and have good snappy controls, I have to use either MSI dragon center on my old system or Razer Cortex, just to shut down all the background processes that cause lag, also I had to set my monitor to overdrive, I had to get rid of the Microsoft edge process that uses my GPU while gaming and load the game from the desktop instead of borderless full screen. I'm wired in, also on my controller. I have an Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU, I'm on a gigabit connection and use Google DNS. All that, just to get rid of as much input lag as possible. I could not get rid of input lag at all on my Xbox series S. I even put all the controller settings as high sensitivity as possible and it still lags extreme. After about 2 minutes in game, the aim gets so laggy and slow that I can't turn my Spartan around. There is no way in hell you made it to 1700 Onyx with 60FPS, and a trash machine unless you are using a Cronus, or are on a crappy laptop with aimbots, walls, the full suite of hacks. I don't know why people have to lie to try to win arguments, but whatever. I will never believe you play at that level on a POS machine and trash connection. That is impossible.

So about jumping, couldnt that be part of a players strafe?
@Quickshot65731111 ай бұрын
Yes, but shyway got me to understand that the very start of a jump is the strong aspect (surprise element) but 60-80% of the rest of the jump you are a sitting duck. You also enter the vertical, which avoiding the vertical reduces the complexity of snapping to the target. Watch shyway’s 148 bot challenge and take note of all the times he jumps to either start a battle or end a battle. Then go back to your own gameplay and do the same. How effective are his jumps and/or yours?

Are there any players who are good at flicking one direction sliding then flicking back to the target? This is a huge strategy in destiny 2 where you throw your body around by sliding in different directions but still shooting the target in the slide. This may not be beneficial in halo as the strafe speed is already really fast

With slide, cancel, shoot, slide cancel shoot, Frosty has a few moments like that most games with the bandit starts. The shorter pause from sprint to shoot on the bandit makes it pretty savage.

Majority of the Ranked population is in plat, with the highest number of players around diamond 1 i believe. I'd say you're ranked better than the average player.
