I'm a “professional” songwriter but when I listen to Aimee Mann I feel like a pretender. Her songs are simply on another level. Here we have a kitty cat allegory where we discover that many of us are just like Goose with a cone barrier around us, sadly keeping us from trusting and connecting. The good news is, like Goose, our snow cone doesn’t have to be a permanent fixture. I would write more about this insightful theme, but there’s a Q-Tip on the sofa that's calling my name : )

She’s such a beautiful songwriter. Lost in Space is my favorite probably. God thus made me bawl when she throws away the cat food! Ugh. I was a mess. I lose two babies. Both very young around 2-3. The female Kitty Kitty Bang Bang had an over grooming scratchin issue. To the point of horrible open wounds. Doctor put her on a “miracle medicine” and It started to work wonders, but then the meds caused liver failure. I was beside myself. The boy, Guapo, had urinary issues. We did surgery, but it didn’t take. He passed. Both sweet souls so you we did everything we could for them. I feel like we failed them. They both deserved so much more time. I know we did our best, but I still feel like we didn’t do enough.

The scenes where the cat's owner comes back to an empty house reminded me of when my two cats grew old and passed away. After spending years with them, and then to have all their stuff but no cat was so devastating. It was this eery quiet which took a long time to get over. I kept looking around the corner expecting to see one or both of them. It took me a long time to get over. I still miss them deeply. I'm glad Goose came out ok. Nice video. I love this song.

Initially, I didn't understand the song title, nor the relevance of the video until I saw a clip of Aimee explaining the song origins. We lost our sweet Twyla last November to lymphoma. She was an all white cat, so she looks like she could have been in the video. When I first saw this, I had the same reaction in my gut when the friend returns from the vet without Goose. The video does end on a happy note. It's a simple, beautiful video and song. We recently saw Aimee Mann perform at Dominican University outside Chicago, where she explained the song. I've been wanting to see her for some time. She put on a great show. She is one of the best singer-songwriters to come out of the 80's, or any decade, for that matter.

I love this song and video so much. I have tears and heavy sighs while watching... and a wonderful sense of relief toward the end when Goose is back home. Thank you for this marvelous musical story. I finally got (I believe) what "Goose Snow Cone" comes from... when the vet brings Goose in with the "cone of shame," it hit me. Goose's sweet face sitting at the center of that white plastic thing looks just like a bright round scoop of snow in a cone. It's a perfect title.

I first heard this song when my husband of 26 years was dying, although I didn't know that at the time. But it made me weep like a baby anyway, because I think part of me knew what was happening even if the man I loved so hard for so long was claiming everything was fine. Now I break down every time I hear it, and probably always will. But its a beautiful song, and the tears feel more cathartic than hurtful.

First time I have heard this song, and I loved it immediately. And the funny thing is...it is like this with ALL of Ms. Mann's songs, over the years! I have all of her albums, and you cannot really find any one song that could be considered "bad". How she keeps coming up with all these rhythms and hooks leaves me incredulous, but it is nothing short of a blessing in my life that she is out there producing albums on a regular basis. My life would be considerably different without her music in it. Kind of the background soundtrack of my life since I was 20! This song resonates, because for two different periods of my life, I had been blessed to share my life with two great cats. The first for 15 years, and the second for 22. The view down at the snowcone, at those big searching eyes, is one I can identify with. Can't wait to hear the rest of this album!

Now about Aimee, I consider her the modern day JONI MITCHELL!!! Aimee nails it on EVERY song period! Songs about a day in your life and beyond. Not too many atrists can accomplish this talent. Great song & vid ! It reminds me of two of our cats, Chunk and Leon Petrovich (not their real names) that passed a year apart. Luckily we made some vids starring both of them, so we can still watch them in action. Initially I listened to the song, and told my wife about it. Same here. I lived alone in San Francisco in a little apartment with my rag doll kitty. He got cancer unexpectedly & I had to make the toughest decision of my life. That was in 2009. Cant tell you how many times Ive broken down. I bought some flowers & hiked into this beautiful place, scattered his ashes sang a special song picked out just for him & let the flowers go in the ocean. Two dolphins came up. Ive never seen dolphins in this area before. Then two crows came and hovered over me for the longest time, some kind of wind tunnel above me formed by the mountain behind. It was truly amazing & I couldn't help but wonder if they knew what I was doing(?) Honoring his life. I stumbled across this video just now & lost it. Ive never been able to adopt another. Maybe someday ….. maybe never. Loved your comment & had to share. I hope your doing well

Wow. I have 4 rescued cats and 1 rescued Chihuahua (and 1 amazingly intelligent betta, also a rescue) and this video feels like the good times...because he's ok. Very sweet. Also, this city is my transplanted home, albeit 20 years ago.
