She's the most underrated artist in the last 2 decades. Aimee is our generations Joni Mitchell or Carole King, only better. I love the haunting and mystical melancholy sound of her songs. I could listen to her all day and often do. You've got to hear her songs more than once, because they grow on you and gain in depth and quality with listening. She also totes hot, wish she was touring in FL because I'd definitely pay to see her or buy her new Album.

Brian, her music has had such an impact on my life too. At this point, I feel like her music is part of my DNA - the minute a song of hers begins, whether it's a new song or one I've listened to thousands of times, I have this soul-deep reaction. Albums like "Welcome Home", "Everything's DIfferent now", "Lost in space" and "Smilers" are just amazing. She's a truly underrated artist.

I fell for her in Kenmore Square in 1985 (!!!) where Til Tuesday played on top of the Strawberry's Records store. I'm about to turn the page on another chapter in my life, just in time for new stuff from Aimee. I have been wearing out Charmers (amazing, of course) for the last six months. I could go on and on about her, no one else i know seem to get it... their loss.

I'm so excited to hear that Aimee has a new album coming out soon. She was great with her side project, Both, but it's time for more beautiful, sad, insightful music from this great artist. I met Aimee after a show in Santa Fe, too many years ago. Not expecting to get to meet her, I didn't bring a cd cover for her to sign. I ran out to my beetle and grabbed my Till Tuesday tape, Everything's Different Now. I was so star struck, and very inebriated, I embarrassed myself stating to her, " I like the way you put words together". Ahh, fun times. Thanks Aimee!

Aimee Mann's music carries a stark honesty without being self referential, which can easily make you relate to what's she's saying, while her disarmingly beautiful musical delivery lends tenderness to that experience, leaving you feeling reassured, and perhaps less alone. Obviously, such gifted artists must remain underappreciated in these attention deprived times of manufactured music.

I put the question of greatest songwriters out on quora a few years ago; didn't get a lot of feedback but those who did answer agreed with me that Aimee is an all-time great and perhaps without peer on the lyrical side. I wanted to point out that when I heard this song, and I had only listened to 3 times prior to viewing this upload, I thought the line was "looking out over goose snow corn", and the imagery was of a lonely woman looking out the window I wet a fresh snow-fallen storm field and it sort of capturing the stillness and barrenness of one of those moments that can overtake the more introspective types out there. Learning the true inspiration will send me on a new journey on my next listens. I look forward to it, but I will miss the imagery of my misunderstanding. Life is funny.

Amy, Wow, I guess I've had my head in the sand. I was introduced to you and your music just recently on NPR. Thanks for doing that interview but I guess it was for PR. For me it's always been about storytelling in an acoustical format. Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg, Gordon Lightfoot, Loggins and Messina, Cat Stevens, (local to my footprint John Bassett), later there was Tracy Chapman and Indigo Girls, but I'm not sure how I didn't trip over you sooner. I really like the new album and will be checking out some of your older stuff too. Keep painting a picture with your words. Let me know if you stroll past Cleveland. I'll try to scrape the peanuts together to see/hear you live, [been out of work since getting fired for getting sick so Melancholy is back in with me]. :-) Take care, Paul

Aimee is gorgeously intelligent. And then you have her wonderfully rich, deep, songs which invariably hit the mark dead centre. And on top of that you have the most fantastically expressive voice which she uses to perfection. We are all so, so lucky to be around the same time as her. She's a great artist whose work will last. Those of us who get it now love her to pieces.
