Oh Aimee this was so powerful & healing for me to see… thank you for sharing such a hard & vulnerable day. This is my reality often too and watching you still tend to your children even in so much pain and exhaustion brought tears to my eyes…you give me so much hope that I can still be a good mama with chronic illness. I would love to see more mom content- chronic illness is hard enough but being a mom with littles at the same time feels nearly impossible. We need more people like you to show us how possible and beautiful it can be. 🧡

I just endlessly every day admire the fortitude that chronically ill mamas have. I’m sending you so much love, Aimee :)

You’re so right, sometimes self care, regardless of how it looks, is just about the feeling. Self care for me this morning is having enough energy to fold laundry. The accomplishment of that is making me beam❤

It is so horrible when you need a mental lift but your physical self really won’t let you. I really feel for you as I know the pain mentally and physically this causes. When I’m that bad just getting out of bed and changing my clothes has to be enough and most of the time is, and if it’s not, I look out the window at the birds and nature as this really helps my mental health. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Noni juice taken before something hard to do like gardening. Seems to cut down on lactic acidosis thus that kind of pain. Congratulations for your channel.

You don't need make-up , girl. You are reallly very pretty without it. Just only use it if you really want to and have the power to do it. Just my advice, beautyfull❤

Self-care is a term that has been co-opted by the beauty industry and "wellness" influencers in our late-stage capitalist society. It really has nothing to do with beauty or skincare products, but with things you do to take care of yourself internally, and with how that then helps you take care of your community. So, calming your mind and body with yoga, resting when you needed it, feeding the community of yourself and your children with the sourdough bread and your homemade Reeses cups...were all self-care. Talking about your struggles as a form of video journaling is self-care. Presenting at an event intended to uplift and help other members of the chronic illness community succeed is self-care. If you managed to meet up with your friends and have good conversations with them and encourage each other, that's self-care. Don't get down on yourself if you can't manage to try out some new beauty product, or you try it out and it doesn't quite go how you want it to. As someone who also is legally disabled with multiple chronic illnesses, I get the frustration when you'd like to try a little indulgence and you just can't manage it, or you manage it and it goes awry. I just have to remind myself to indulge in the things I can almost always do, like watch a fun video, read a little, or listen to a favorite piece of music. If I have a few more spoons, I write (I'm an sf/f/h poet and fiction writer) or sometimes bake. A lot of these are self-care.
