Aimee, your music is so beautiful. It moved me to tears. I have a sister who is ten years older than I am, and last year, we lost our mom, after more than a decade of battling Alzheimer’s. There are aspects of your music that resonate deeply with me-the shared journey of sisterhood, the caregiving, and the poignant farewells and letting go that life inevitably presents. Thank you for your touching song. Your artistry is always inspiring.

Aimee, your voice is so beautiful and sweet. The lyric brings to mind even more than sisters. It is so simple and true. I pictured my grandaughter holding her little sister in the beginning of her big sister role. Someone is here to walk in life beside you. Someone who knows more than anyone from beginning to end who you are. Sometimes close and sometimes not. I am also that little sister. With one who watches over me and sometimes says "lets go." too. Having grown apart and close again over time. I've listened to it a few times now. This song touched my heart. There's so much to feel... I've grown accustomed to the bass chord style Harpejji sound, liking it.❤ the overdubbed vocal ending as the sisters are with one voice.

As an intermediate guitar player with a passing knowledge of piano, the Harpegii seems like a great device for those of us that struggle to identify the notes on the guitar fretboard. I have a suggestion regarding your observation that the Harpeggi does not always replicate a guitar sound. When chording, guitars are frequently strummed. This adds arpeggiation to the chord notes. Adding a little arpeggiation to the Harpeggi chords might provide a better simulation.

Being a musician myself, I can honestly say that I am delighted with your finished work. And the lyrics, which are not as structured rhythmically as so many songs,were made to fit so well with a very structured beat. That was brilliant. Overall, I would give this beautiful song 5 out of 5 stars. And you had to learn how to learn a new instrument in the process! BRAVO YOUNG LADY!

Thank you for this beautiful touching song! I loved it and it moved me. About the harpeji: I play around (at very amateurish level) with synths and I really feel that a professional with synths could get a better approximation of a guitar part than the harpeji does on a pure electronic instrument. It isn’t easy though, sampled instrument sounds on a keyboard can also sound pretty dull, and I am impressed how far you came with the harpeji. The sneak peak of the acoustic guitar sounds absolutely awesome.

Great song Aimee, it really touched my heart. If you would like to get a more acoustic guitar type of sound with your Harpejji, check out acoustic impulse responses (IR’s for short) Most electric acoustic guitars use the same kind of pickups (piezo) that the Harpejji uses and can really help them sound more like a “real” acoustic guitar. IR’s can be used with a DAW or there are several pedals that can load them (mooer radar, TC electronic IR loader, Two Notes CAB m etc) Also, most IR’s that guitarists use are to emulate speaker cabinets, so you have to look for “acoustic IR’s” specifically. Hope that helps!

As I listen to this wonderful new music, I am reminded of the days long ago of my three younger sisters, who were once children playing in the piles of raked autumn leaves in the front yard. The cold, brisk Wisconsin air couldn't deter them from the thrill of being little girls. I was their older brother, their protector. Who we once were and are no more, and all of the bittersweet memories therein.

I love knowing what has gone into a song - and this is a big story. Beautiful lyrics, melody and voice. The Harpejji 16:24 works better than I Imagined. It doesn't take the place of guitar - but more importantly, it's a new(ish) sound. Yes, two versions, or perhaps more should be made. Beautiful production by the way. You of course could use a plugin like Fink Signatures guitar by Spitfire which your son could do in midi.
@niek19548 ай бұрын
Hi Amy, love what you made. That the Harpeggi doesn't sound like a guitar is not completely true, I think. It sounds like a guitar that is exclusively tapped, the old Van Halen trick. The sound comes from the string hammered on the fret board, not from a nail plucking it. That makes it percussive, with less sustain and without the subtleties your nail oe finger can produce. Very interesting, though...

Wonderful Aimee!! Beautiful and classy! I feel the love through your voice and your music. This deserves the expansion of the woodwinds you are considering if I may offer, a touch of strings at the last third for added lift through the chorus and outro. This should be featured in a classy film of the same theme around two sisters. I will love to add and promote it in Spotify. Can't wait for your final production. It is still simply elegant and warm and touching the heart and beautifully conceived. Thanks for sharing your journey through it's conception to creation. :) Oh and I found I played piano more naturally than guitar. But some of my compositions on piano beg for guitar counterpoint so I do what I can. It helps to have proficient friends to pitch in. ;)

One thing I really like is how the brief piano interludes seem to reference a different nuances of the story- little melodic digressions that imply other colors, the depths of it all. (Was it Dorothy Parker who said "there are no conversations- just intersecting monologues?") Anyway, the best storytelling in music always gives you the emotion, and leaves the details to be imagined.

Check out Jon Maurer from Baltimore as well, who lives near the Meeks and did a number of demo videos for them. I saw him with his trio at Seacrets in Ocean City MD, I saw a couple songs and it was obvious he's a great singer and pianist. Then a little while later I hear a guitar lead and realize the trio was just piano, drums and bass. I could see him tapping on something and checked it out on break and was blown away, super cool instrument.

Beautiful song and a great job in recording it. Your singing and harmonies are spot on. The poetry and story is very moving and evocative. Hope my comments are not offensive. Use the nylon guitar for a solo and some fills on top of your electronic version. The guitar thingy could be a bit softer and more expressive. Is the tempo a touch fast? Just my (perhaps unwelcome) opinion.

Thanks for the introduction. I hadn’t heard of this and it was a fun discovery. I think it is because the open strings are dampened that it misses the “sounds like a guitar” goal. Just like piano, it is necessary to control the effect of the sympathetic vibrations on open strings and with that many strings involved, again like with the piano, the dampening needs to be managed by the instrument. Unlike piano, I don’t think there’s a way for the musician to influence how the dampening is controlled and it’s like playing without the pedals. Good guitar players do all the dampening with their hands and, like any instrument, the very nature of the musician’s physical interaction with the instrument is what makes it unique.

The Beatles used ground-breaking instruments...my guess is they probably would have fit that thing in if they had it to their disposal in the '60's....does it have individual piezo pickups for each string? If it does, then I'm pretty sure Line 6 or Roland/ BOSS could create a circuit board with their guitar modeling tech integrated into it...that would give it the capability to get different guitar tones, like Stratocaster, Martin Acoustic, Les Paul, Jazz Box guitar, Telecaster, Rickenbacker, etc. guitar tones with something like that integrated into it. Thanks for the video.
