This is so, so true....looking at all the chaos in my environment (both mentally and physically) and I can see that it all accumulated because of those tiny choices made everyday....
@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
The same is true with rerouting our choices. The changes don't happen overnight but the compound effect of making smart choices enhances the quality of life, adds energy and confidence to our day. Thanks for watching. I'm sending you a big virtual hug. 🤗🤗🤗

You’re not alone Emma. I’m here with you in this chaotic house/mindset. Maybe we can both set our timer for an hour today and see how much we can get done in one little area? Or even start with just 15 mins, and see how you feel after. That always helps me. Then I end up just continuing on and by the end of it I feel so proud. You got this Emma 🧡

Ps. Wanted to add a second comment. You know something I really adore about you and your team of cleaning experts is that you don’t just clean a home and go on your merry way. You’re here and I’m sure in person providing life long skills to people who either may not know how to keep up with their homes or weren’t taught as children the value of a clean environment. You could easily keep all these tools to yourself and let people’s homes become messy again to make more $. But instead, you pride yourself on empathy and helping people instead of just a paycheck. That’s a beautiful quality to have. You show so much love and empathy to your clients and KZbin family and I just want to say a deep heartfelt thank you to you! I wish I could seriously go to lunch with you and just listen to you talk for hours haha! ♥️ Thank YOU for caring!!!

This is the best analogy about clutter I’ve ever heard. I used to tell my husband that “daily neglect” was the cause of the clutter issue, but the way you described how things creep up on you is basically perfect-about all of life. You really are the SUM of all of your daily decisions.

Dana K. White talks about the container concept, which can apply to a drawer, a cabinet and even the whole house. It doesn't matter how good something is, you have set a limit, and if you want something then you have to get rid of something else. I like how you allow a little leeway but not much. No one can have it all and be happy. Thanks for all you share and your compassion in helping others!

Yay! Love to see a video in the am. Always amazing! However for me personally I have found that some things are best avoided completely (flour and refined sugar). Or having a hard line around not putting mail on the counter, etc. I guess the clear lines remove daily decision making (become habits instead) and during stressful times that helps “I just don’t ever put my clothes on the bed or chair” would be one. I do not have all of these habits in place but when I have it has made maintaining my weight almost effortless (no decisions about that next donut). But this is an amazing strategy otherwise. Thank you for your videos. Always such great content.

The learning curve has been HUGE. Our business is growing so fast that we had to double down for a few weeks. Thanks for hanging in there with us. We should bounce back to our regular schedule in the next couple of weeks. 🤗🤗🤗

Omg! You really understand hoarding! I've been letting things pile up, now I'm overwhelmed. My Mom just died and I brought some things home. But my apartment is already filled with things I love. For instance, a small shelf dedicated for towels was filled already. Now I have 2 extra towels that don't fit. But I love/use all the towels. Compound this in every area: photo albums, sentimental items, clothes, etc. I must make hard decisions of which things get donated, thought everything is in good shape, pretty and I use it.
@rejoyce3183 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom, Lili. Both my parents have passed, & I'm semi-systematically going through the family memorabilia, and it's ALL sentimental. I try to declutter in small amounts. On a good day, it might be a tote-sized box. Other days, it might be a small basket or a shoe box. Some days, it's picking 3 items, & once I've dealt with those, that's IT for the day. Best wishes.

This is the single best explanation I have ever heard that makes sense for my mind, my body, and my home! Clarity and the light bulb moment: to find the balance for every thing in life I face with a +/- 10lb Sweet Spot. For all the reasons that I got to a Drifting Aimlessly place, to escape pain, for a pseudo happiness, and a slew of negative results with it. Now to begin a journey looking through my “balancing-scales lenses”, to see everything with new eyes open, to find joy in my home and in my body, within these perimeters, this new understanding of boundaries and limits. Thank you!

Wonderful words, I can see I need to make a plan and quit drifting... It's gotten to the point where I've had to keep a notebook where I jot down locations of where I put various items because once I put something away it's 'out of sight out of mind', I can never find it again. Right now I have a running list of many items I am looking for but have no idea where I put them, this is a problem I've encountered every time I try to clean up in a flurry of clutter busting. I usually end up with a worse mess than before I started and lose track of important stuff somehow.

Something that strikes me about your videos, is that you are very sincere and hold yourself accountable for what happens to you. If your family was shocked to see your rapid weight gain, they're not responsible for whether you choose to keep putting on weight or if you return to eating habits and body size you were accustomed to - that was your decision. I love that you point out you don't have to deprive yourself in order to maintain a reasonable balance. I like wine, but I don't drink it from breakfast to supper, if you like Pepsi, you probably shouldn't drink it all day, and if you like fries (I love them!) maybe you'll enjoy them more if you eat them once or twice a week vs with every meal. I'm really enjoying your sensible chats and look forward to more!

The food in US is so low quality to gain over 50 lbs in six months? Terrible. Plus she was not naturally overweight.
@lindatisue7333 жыл бұрын
The problems in the US are first fast food joints and supermarkets offer easy, cheap, tasty, and filling food. Second most people work a lot more than the "mythical" 40 hours a week. Doesn't matter if one is a low wage worker or a professional. Either the job doesn't pay enough and one has to get a second job, or the salary job(boss)demands 50-60 hours a week. I was a teacher in the US, the position had extra coaching duties with it. Between classes, marking, prepping and coaching I was working 60 hours a week. It is time and money efficient to eat convenience foods. Add in some people live in food desserts, where it is +8 km to the nearest supermarket with fresh foods. So happy I managed to leave the US.

Sadly, there were always quality foods available to me at affordable prices. I made some lousy choices and lots of them. It was a delicious time of my life that I will never forget for many reasons. 🙏

I just started watching your videos so I know I'm late. I love your videos and they've been helpful. I just wanted to comment on what you said about the time you gained weight. It's not as simple as liking a food and overeating it. Maybe you didn't eat much salt and sugar but that's not the 1st time you discovered it. Unless you lived in a cult I'm sure you had a vehicle and drove into town every once in a while and had a treat. I just think you're doing a disservice to your followers by not discussing the root of the weight gain and overeating. Maybe it was your 1st time away from home and you were lonely. Maybe you were unhappy at work or school or with a friend or partner. Whatever the reason is, overeating comes from something a lot more complex than liking food. Certain foods make us happy. They give us those feel good chemicals in our brains and that's the real reason for overeating. A lot of the reasons people overeat are the same reasons they hoard or sleep most of the day or drink or do drugs. I know you're not a therapist but I just think it's helpful to understand the root causes for our behavior.

good points BUT....this information is for people without mental illness. those of us who deal with hard core hoarding family members know it's not at all lke this. you can't reason with a hard core hoarder

I had to accept my own hoarding traits, because I have to face that first (i.e., taking the log out of my own eye). I've had to deal with generational hoarding while a parent was still living (and am still emotionally decluttering what's left of that). Angela's videos have been so helpful, even before the hoarding series.
@StephieGsrEvolution3 жыл бұрын
Yeah these videos are good for level 1 or 2 hoarding at most, which many Americans are. Level 3 and up, this is video is like telling a person with thyroid problems or taking medications that cause weight gain to not go over 10 lbs.
@rejoyce3183 жыл бұрын
@@StephieGsrEvolution Here's the thing, though: If hoarding can be recognized - by the hoarder - while it's at level 1 or 2, there are organizations and professionals who can help the person and provide strategies and support, and hopefully prevent higher levels of hoarding.

Hi Angela! You are going to hate what I have to say. Your videos are wonderful, so helpful and powerful, and this one is no exception. But precious Angela, I think that pretty is also powerful. You are so lovely, however, I am always distracted at how seemingly intentionally plain you look, especially your hair. Is there a reason why you don't focus on also being pretty in your appearance? In any event, I love your work.
@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carolyne, thanks for your feedback. Yes, my plain Jane look is intentional for house cleaning. As a professional house cleaner of 30 years, we have a particular professional look that says "I clean." It's not a fashion show, it's not a time to be sexy and cute and the message we send has to do two things: 1) Be consistent so our customers feel they are getting the same person, package, cleaning each time. 2) Know how you are going to show up (and present yourself) when they recommend you to their friends. I do realize that for KZbin I could be "prettier" but intentionally chose to keep the same look so we can do pick-up shots and intertwine the videos with b-roll seamlessly without wardrobe and hair changes. It's all about practicality and consistency. If my look is distracting as you say, may I recommend the podcast which is audio-only? podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ask-a-house-cleaner/id1219964465 Thanks again, I appreciate you and your support. 🤗🤗🤗
