10 feet = 10 inch backstroke // 20 feet = 12.5 inch // 30 feet = 15 inch I practiced this yesterday with a 65bpm metronome playing in my AirPods and my putting distance is dialed in! Thank you!

is it one consistent follow thru?
@604DeanАй бұрын
@@georgegao1408 Yes, I'd say that is an accurate description. Avoid getting too 'wristy' or else your putting stroke becomes 'whippy' as you transition from backstroke to forwardstroke
@georgegao1408Ай бұрын
@@604Dean sorry what i meant to ask is the follow through the same distance as the backswing?
@604DeanАй бұрын
@@georgegao1408 No, for me the forward stroke does not end the same distance as the back stroke. Not the easiest thing to explain. I suggest doing what I did with practicing rhythm with a 65bpm metronome and you'll understand why.

Great work guys! I’ve used Aimpoint for over ten years. Jamie and Mark are amazing coaches. This is a gamechanger. It still baffles me how mainstream golf doesn’t fully appreciate the method.

Great video on speed control. I trained with Jamie many years go at Hemingford Abbots and I can assure you he is a great guy; understands all aspects of golf and extremely good with people. Thanks Jamie, glad to see AimPoint is doing well with you on board!

Are speed and tempo the same in this context? If you strike the ball with the same SPEED every time, then the distance should be the same every time regardless of backswing length. So I am assuming tempo and speed are different. Tempo is covering different distances in the same amount of TIME, thus more speed for longer backswings. Just like in physics, the outside of a circle travels faster than the inside of a circle in order to cover the same distance around the center in the same amount of time.

As length of stroke increases yet tempo remains constant, the putter head travels faster as it has to cover a greater distance in the same time. Faster putter = longer putt.

I successfully calibrated my swing for years until my instructor told me it was “too mechanical.” Now I can’t control distance. His fault? No. I need to know what works for me. Going back to my roots today!
@JamieDonaldsongolf4 ай бұрын
How did you get on with the change?
@SBillings014 ай бұрын
@@JamieDonaldsongolf I went back to calibration and combine that with more feel than previously. So my instructor wasn’t totally off base, but going to extremes is rarely the best option, as you know.

Great drill!! Why not using a metronome ?

Would love to try this drill but slightly confused on the distance of the back swing. Said it was 10 inches for 10 ft and then increase that by 50%. That increase of 50% gets you the distance for the 30 ft putt or the 20ft putt? Thanks for your help!
