My late mom born in 1925 used to be always singing this lol lol in the 80s I got a copy and we played it on a windup gramaphone as my mom did in the 30s. thanks for sharing.

: D Hahahahah...my Dad used to spin this every Sunday afternoon...followed by him playing Mendelsson's "Funeral March" on his beat-up piano. It was the signal for my Mom to take us kids to the park (even if it was raining). Happy days... :D

Well I've had a copy of this 78 for a good few years, Inherited from an old uncle whose entire collection of old shellac records I now curate. Another side record by this English artist is Ice Cream, lovely.

Another one who heard it for the first time today... On Danny Baker's radio show 'dedicated' to All Hallows Eve. Seriously considering having it played when I 'go' :-) I have an old 78 player.....Wonder if I can get a copy to enjoy, in the original, in the meantime?

Alan Bennett mentions this song in his book 'Untold Stories'. He used to listen to it on his grandma's red Rexene- covered wind-up gramophone.
