I love Nicola Pagett. If you remember "Upstairs Downstairs" and the character she played in that and now watch her in this...the contrast is just amazing.

A very odd show, especially the second series which gave up on the laughter track, leaving the dwindling TV audience abandoned alone to discern anything funny in it, us poor saps. So on the surface, it now has all the appearance of an Alan Ayckbourn play, but even the casual viewer will quickly realise the characters have little of the depth or truth of anything he would produce. So all we're left with is a farce stretched painfully well beyond any purpose or effect, and characters that continuously contradict themselves - For instance, the Quigley character, who one minute is chaste and committed to his wife and the next is coming on to Nicola Pagett's, who in turn welcomes then rejects him. I wish I could say this is in the spirit of a Katherine Hepburn/ Cary Grant flirtation piece, but in reality it's just bored, lazy writing. A horrible failure that is justifiably forgotten, but there are genuinely funny moments and lines, ironically wholly inspite of the construction of the frenetic plot, in which the writer intended to be where the majority of the humour should have derived from. Anyway, a spectacular mess, but for the laughs in it, which were quite plentiful, 4/10 (at a major push)

Someone should of told Lester that balding men with pony nubs look ridiculous.

Oh god! I watched the first two episodes of the first series and wondered how long they could stretch out this weak premise of a plot. It’s still going and it hasn’t got anywhere. Deplorable script what a waste of the talents of these good actors. I bet they are huge,y embarrassed about having acted in this, but I guess everyone has to eat.

A silly episode, the weakest so far in the second series.
