Even the new Super Max at Wayside (new at that time). Twin Towers. There was 1 more facility it was in LA can't remember the name closed along time ago. Ya I was a knucklehead whiteboy always in trouble. 20 years ago I gave back that K number to the state and been on the straight and narrow ever since. I will let you tell the story about the Flashlight Therapy the Deputy's used to hand out. And just one more thing.....I went home with my shoes everytime. I worked as a deputy 89-91 LA County. That place was no joke even for a young cop. I worked 2800, 3100 and then the visiting area, which was the best spot. You had to earn your stripes and that was by beating down an inmate. One of the guys I hung with was a white cop from Redondo Beach and this one time this Mexican Deputy invites me to a BBQ at his home. I'm thinking cool get to see the boys off duty but sure as shit if was nothing but Mexicans there. There was the gang mentality and the veterans told me pretty much at work we take care of each other but after you have to hang out with your own.....Seen some dirty shit and for the most part no issues with the inmates because respect has always been important to me. Not saying I didn't have to swing but even the inmates knew it had to have been a new inmate wanting to challenge me. Working the visiting section gave me some juice with the inmates because I always treated the family members well and if you treated the mom's and grandma's well that got back to the inmates and they appreciated it.
