@medvolts2 жыл бұрын
There's a lot to unpack here. This kid is incredibly talented, this is a kick-ass song written by the "Blind Balladeer" Leon Payne that has been done by multiple artists including Sanford Clark, Charlie Crockett, Johnny Winter, The Coasters, Loy Clingman, etc. The guy who wrote this song, Leone Payne, also wrote "Lost Highway" that was popularized by Hank Williams. And the songwriter, again Leon Payne, was mentioned by one of my personal favorite artists, Doug Sahm, as a songwriter that everyone should know on the "Return of Wayne Douglas" album. As I said previously, this young man is very talented and he's touching on some rarefied company.

@@allenmckinney2082 If you meant Eddie NOACK, he may well have recorded a cover of the song, although I couldn't find any indication that he did. The song was written by leon Payne and covers of it were recorded by at least 14 different artists. My original comment had to do with the fact that the young man, in this video, was asked to do some 'Johnny Winter' and he sang ' Ain't Nothin To Me' which is the version that I'm the most familiar with. I liked the direction he was heading to in the beginning. Being I am old enough that I remember going to Greatful Dead and Pink Floyd concerts and all the days I was just staying stoned. I am more into the old bluegrass and folk. Billy got my attention with some songs he wrote that kept that bluegrass traditional sound but the lyrics were up to today's standard and was not gospel. Then, he started sounding like a mix of Pink Floyd and the Dead ! I don't get high anymore and have not done phycadelic shit in a lifetime. So I just can't get into his new shit. His new shit would be great if I was stoned but, It's like they get stuck in a trance of music and then return. I cannot relate anymore. I know he is your friend. And Billy is a GREAT musician! I wish I could play half as good as he does. I wish Billy would come back to earth and play like this again. I feel like he left us strait folks behind. I feel like I need to be high to listen to his new shit. The new stuff just seems like trance music. Some will know what I mean. I have played my guitar stoned many times. It's like that. I get going into lala land and it shows in my playing. People hang on for the ride. Anyway!!!! Thanks for the old videos. That's all I listen to. The one they play in the park with Don Jullan with 4 songs is the best. That's the good stuff. Have a great new year. Thanks for reading my two cents.

Welp, i've been to two of his shows already, and about a dozen GRATEful Dead shows back in the day..... I've watched scores of Billy vid's, and even more audio-only Billy, Dead and other "jam band" shows.... NOT ONCE was i stoned or even drunk...NOT ONCE while enjoying these concerts and vids..... Dude, you don't need to be buzzed to enjoy music, or "relate" to it...plain and simple. All i can say is....your loss. And for the record, he and the band still play plenty of straight-up Bluegrass, whether it's traditional songs, or their own....
