The contrast between the songs, between the gentle harmony of the ainulindale and the chaotic unquiet clamouring of Melkor (who even in that is unknowingly playing a part in a greater story even whilst fighting against it), is quite possibly the most easily accessible explanation of the world and its evils that I've seen or heard.

It's based on the Judeo-Christian Creation story, as Tolkien was a Christian. This is how Christians and Jews explain why evil is in the world, yet God can still be sovereign over everything.

Fr! I was literally listening to it thinking like, oh so basically there will be evil in the world and at times it will look like evil will win. But in the end the good in the world will win out. Which is basically like the whole lord of the rings story.

Iluvatar was diggin' on some Jazz and Metal. Tolkien misdirects here, Iluvatar wasn't angry because of the music. The music was showing HIS anger. Remember, the Ainur are the offspring of His thought, and none is more powerful than Melkor, who was a part of Iluvatar's mind. Note that darkness, not light, is the most dominant part of Eru Iluvatar. For a devout catholic Tolkien sure was Gnostic.

Well hello my friend, Im so glad to come back and see how this has been gathering momentum. I was just thinking how this is much better use of your brain and time than say watching the rings of power, which honestly feels more like satire or a comical adaptation of Tolkien´s work. I remember coming upon your videos as I searched for Martin´s Shaw audiobook to accompany my reading, when you only had this and maybe Vlaquenta uploaded. I loved your videos so much because they saved me effort hehe, as when reading The Silmarillion I always have like maps of middle earth oppened, geneaologies, and all sorts of supportive materials to keep up and remember all the content being discussed in the text. Anyways, good stuff man, i look forward to rewatching your videos now that the whole Silmarillion is up, cheers.
