If this ever had a story mode: Imagine a canyon map with AA turrets all along on the edges and you have to fly your fighters through to get to an objective/target like a scene out of a WWII movie.

Using different heights to balance different Air units sounds like a cool idea. Looking forward to trying the ground combat myself eventually!

Yes! This is what this game needs! Rts with no basebuilding needs to be about map control positioning and stealth. I hope you can get cover and sighline obstruction working.

Smaller maps favor using hero units while larger maps favor base units in numbers. Some of the hero units may need to use transports more. That may toss a problem to new players and the AI. Perhaps with a few 'hero' troop carriers to carry these hero infantry, IE Vader, Luke, the robots and Wicket, may be required long term.

You will have to be careful to not make Air units too good, as its often easy to just spam them and dominate But looks really cool! Curious on how you coded some of these, like the TIE Bomber bombs

Thank you! We're dealing with this very artificially atm, by capping the amount you can build in skirmish. In GC, you can only have 3 regiments, if they're all air, that's also not so effective. Though theoretically, this could be removed and spamming these would still cause people to lose as even with bombers with splash you wouldn't be able to stop the relentless march of the enemy infantry taking the map and eventually losing due to losing ground. Buildings are also 2x size and on average +4x health, so you can't just bomb them down and win that way. The bombs are literally just bombs, fired from a hardpoint. We were too lazy to rerig the firebone to point down and use the muzzlea bone system, and this seems to work good enough.

They have. But a one single AA is not very effective against a TIE Bomber. You'll need some more defense

The laser projectiles are very hard to spot. And their geometry fails to look like the movie ones.

This is looking pretty neat! Also, since you have bombers as regular units now, maybe you could replace the bombing run with some kind of paratrooper mechanic? As in replace the bomb projectiles with units assuming something like that is even possible. Just a thought :)

This is how land battles should be in the first place,medium-long range lasers being shot, its starwars for gods sake, why infantry has to be 10m in front of a target to start shooting. 😅
