Just took delivery of a walnut left handed .22 HC model I've had a hw97 before great gun BUT the tx200 has a far better finish and is loads better to shot out the box because of the piston running on delrin bands no twang or vibration from the internals probably the best Springer available right now ( this as proberly opened a can of worms with the weihrauch guy's 🤔 )

Hello Sir Thankyou for your TX200 review. That air rifle looks absolutely amazing. The workmanship, the blackening of the barrel, the shaping and carving of the stock, the cocking operation, just genius. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! So so glad its British and shown we can outgun anyone if we put our minds to it. Just fantastic, thankyou. You've done Air Arms proud in your review. Deserved and thankyou!

There put together in the UK but aren't entirely British, the barrel is German by Walther, and the stocks are Italian. They are a very good rifle, but latest prices are very over priced. many agree.

Great review, excellent photography- most excellent. I have just purchased an immaculate beech stocked TX200 Mk3 this very morning. Looking forward to it's arrival and comparing it to the Venom/V-Mach HW77 and HW80's that I own. You can see the HW77 'genes' in the configuration of the TX200. Air Arms have always produced high quality, well engineered, very goo looking rifles. Back in the latter part of the 80's, when I acquired my HW77 in 1986, a friend of mine owned a very fine Air Arms Camargue. The Camargue had a particularly lovely walnut stock with Tyrolean cheek piece. I agree with you observation that Weihrauch, whilst superbly engineered, cannot match AA in aesthetic terms. The stock on the TX200 featured in your review is a thing of beauty. I'd be happy to lay it down on a gun bag in my living room and just admire it. Excellent review, keep them coming! :)

I still have a TX200HC mkII I bought new in 1995,very easy to reset safety and de-cock. Still love it and feels so good to shoot 26 years later. Completely stock as well, probably only 3 or 4 tins of ammo ever put through it.

You're right. The TX200 Mk3 has the same internals for both sub 12 ft lbs and fac versions with the mainspring being weaker on the sub 12. Early models had a piston stroke of 82mm for the sub 12ftlbs and 91mm for the fac version. The mk3 has a 96mm piston stroke. Air Arms advertised this feature that the new Mk3's are easier to cock, which they are, but they do not shoot anywhere near as refined as the mk1 and 2 at sub 12. The same happened to the Prosport. I think this was done in order to reduce manufacturing costs whilst satisfying unrestricted markets such as the USA. Weihrauch did the same with their HW90 model. The early sub 12 ft lbs version had a shorter piston stroke than the fac model. Now both the sub 12 ft lbs and fac versions are the same rifle and power output is determined by the internal ram pressure which can be set by the owner with a suitable hand pump. The equivalent of fitting a weaker/stronger mainspring.
@6lr6ak6

@@darrencady4261 Yes l remember my friend last year he tried a Titan spring in his mk3 TX, the spring was thicker and prob made out of stiffer spring steel but you could tell cocking it, it was in 22 and using AAs Diablos 16 grain was doing 730 fps on his FX chrono, around 19ft/lb, because of the stroke they need this sort of spring to shoot right.

@darrencady4261
@darrencady4261 Жыл бұрын
@@jizzmonkey9679 The early HW77 didn't have an anti bear trap but once cocked the safety automatically engaged. From the second variation an anti-bear trap is fitted. For me the sensible thing to do is hold the underlever whilst loading a pellet as the anti- bear trap is useless should the main sear fail. Plus, as you quite rightly point out, being able to de-cock is very handy. I shouldn't say this but I remove the anti-bear trap on later HW77's and 97's to de-cock if necessary.
@georgemiljanic3704
@georgemiljanic3704 3 жыл бұрын
Great gun. The safety can be re-engaged by cocking the lever again. HW97 the same. Also, TX200 can be decocked without firing the pellet. This is not the case with HW97, however.

I can only afford ONE and must make the right decision. The underlever doesn't make the TX "ugly" by any means, but definitely changes the rifles looks compared to the beautiful PS........ 🤔
