Turn the gas off when you get ready to shut the engine down, and let it run out of fuel, it will save your needle valve and stop the carb from leaking! 👍

About your lift, unless its a live pto, it only works with pto ingaged. The top link piece is the lock to keep the adjustment in place.

Make certain when you’re trying to get the 3 point draft arms to raise that the PTO is spinning m. If not then make sure it is engaged. To engage depress the clutch and on your left hand side down by under your seat is a lever that engages or disengages the PTO. The PTO has to be spinning to raise or lower 3pt since it is a live PTO and you’re foot can’t be in the clutch when trying to raise them.

That lock nut lets you set the top link where you want it for an implement and the lock it in place so it doesn’t move

My 8N is beginning to irritate me. Cant get the front distributor assembly to fire off from it running and wanting to backfure. The old assembly caused backfiring. New carb nk adjustments would take it out. Tried forwards and 180 flip just in case. Still nothing. New distributor assembly it won't work at all. Tmtried mixxing stuff around, found out bith the lower and upper hakf dont work on the new. Checked adjustments and everything. So, basically at square 1 of a dead machine. Least it has a new wire harness, resistor, voltage regulator, guaged and fluids.

On the side of your distributor (left hand) there’s gonna be a screw that you can loosen and use to advance or retard timing. If you want you can check to see if it has been messed up and put out of wack. Should be right about in the center

One thing I found with mine was the weights under the points were stuck. Test from the ground to the top of the coil with key on for voltage.

@@TrapperSamm I can’t remember if those are a spring and weight assembly. I think they are and if so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make sure the springs are intact and not cause the timing issue. I can’t remember if they are or not though. It’s been months since I’ve been in one of those and I didn’t mess much with what’s behind the distributor because mine had a bad crack in it so I needed a new one
