Yay, I got it back together. Super gluing the back of that spring piece saved my bacon. Hopefully if someone else is having the same problem as me and reads the comments my solution will help!

I realize this vid is old but for any who wonder. When reinstalling the switch components, after assembly the problem is how to keep all together to put together the seal and it’s cup. 1. After switch assembly, use visegrip and hold the bottom plate at its pivot point. 2. Use light gage, like 30 gage, tie wire and wrap the plate around and over the motor input connections, twist the tie wire to hold the plate from springing out of its position. 3. Install the switch into its position. 4. Screw switch and all its components as they were originally 5. Once screwed together, clip tie wire and pull it out. 6. Install completed switch to original position, rewire and test.

Thank You! I tried 20 times to put it back together and ended up using super glue which helped just enough to get it together. That small spring kept pulling it apart.

You need to put it back together but Dont put the spring on. Once you screw it all together. Then this is the time you will hook the spring on place.

I've tried 30-40 times now, the second I take any pressure off it springs. I can't get it in the hole, and haven't even gotten far enough to try and put the switch in. It's 1 am here and I'm done! I just super glued and clamped that back side. I'm going to let it sit overnight and try this all again in the morning. I'll let you all know how this method works. Why in the hell didn't they make a groove or notch or something in that plastic to help hold it in, just plain stupid!!!

Yeah I know right! mine didn't have a notch but was holding in place for ae reason. Just have to be very careful and move slowly. Or mine could have been bent a little and was holding in place. But I've seen people use zip ties and vise grip pliers.

@@AJ-vl5dv yeah the zip tie might be a good idea, as you probably read, I used super glue and that worked for me. I had to take it apart because on my Dewalt that plate the switch screws into has a hose leading to the gauges and the air connections. It also has a spring valve so you can drain the water out of that bowl. I didn’t realize it was even a valve but when I took that plate off it was full of water and I realized that spring valve was to drain that water out. I also had to strip the whole compressor down to unscrew that part. Needless to say I am now very familiar with the whole compressor 🤣. I have 3 of them lol. I bought one 20 years ago and acquired the other two from friends who bought them about the same time. We all did vinyl flooring and they got out of it so I got their compressors. It’s the 4 gallon Dewalt d55155. They only produced it for a few years then the switched it to the 4 1/2 gallon tank with wheels. It’s really hard to get parts for it on their website but they still carry a few. Luckily I have 3 so one of them has been designated just for parts. DAMN good compressor though. I use it every work day and give it a good workout where it runs constantly for 15-20 minutes.

I'm so frustrated with this thing!!! Mine is brand new and that spring is super tight. I had to take the bottom plate off it came with to put on the Dewalt plate for my Dewalt compressor. I'm 2 hours or so in right now. If I had know it was going to come apart like this when I removed the plate, I would have tried to hold it together while switching the plates 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😢 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😭

@@AJ-vl5dv make a video where take apart and put back together a brand new one. The brand new ones are so sensitive you can’t release the pressure you are applying at all. It’s ridiculous!

If you use plastic ties to hold it together it will stay in place until you assemble it to base. Then remove plastic ties once you secure it with screws.

I have >2hrs into trying to install mine. I understand how it is assembled but trying to manipulate it with the required pressure to secure is proving to be impossible. Nearly ready to give-up and purchase new ($17).

Don't give up you can do it. I should of said some words in my video but that was the first video I've made on you tube. If you pinch it on one side and try working your unloader valve part first and then focus on the bottom part. It took me a while to figure it out too.

@@AJ-vl5dv Yes, I found a video and I got it together the first time. I had the right idea from the beginning but to acute an angle on the bottom lever piece. @@AJ-vl5dv Getting it together on the bench and installing it are two different things...I was too optimistic. After two more hours, I said the Hell with it, a waste of my time. I kept the parts and someday when everything is wonderful and I need some stress I'll tackle it again. Dumb design. Bought a new one for $15. Now I know, do NOT disassemble.

@@AJ-vl5dv got it figured out. I think I used someone else’s video. Watch the video and wherever your hands are in the camera view no one can see what you are doing. Have someone else hold the camera on the side you are not working on.
