A vibrating multi-tool would also work well to cut out that little piece of the shroud. I had to do a blend door actuator on an F150 and I was surprised how easy it was. I did it in a hotel parking lot in Valdosta AG. Thanks Hampton Inn. Keep the good stuff coming Kenny.

Why couldn't they make it where you just replace the motor? You did a nice job, Kenny and you did great on your little splice job. You could also have put the old plug on the new motor, or if push came to shove, spliced the wires together without a plug at all.
@mph5896 Жыл бұрын
They sell it both ways. Entire assembly or fan motor by itself.
@jthonn Жыл бұрын
@@mph5896 That's the route I would take then, unless the shroud has to come off to put the motor on.

As a mechanic I kind of like Dodge. Stuff is straight forward to work on. Dorman, you gotta do what you gotta do. I shunned them for years based on other reviewers. I do use some of their stuff now due to availability, accessibility and price.

Would it have been easier to install the bolts in the sides at this point (10:44)? Looks like it in the video but video doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. Also, I believe I would have used the plug end off the old fan instead of altering the vehicle side harness. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Kenny, could you do (or do you already have) a video that runs through the troubleshooting/diagnostic steps for a early 2000s Chevy truck? I’ve got an 02 Subbie that has my mechanic baffled. Compressor runs, but doesn’t get to full cold temps. He replaced the compressor last season with it working fine in the fall, but this season it’s not working. He started throwing parts at it, but hasn’t solved the issue. Worked on it for a month, but did not charge for it, yet 😊

I don't get why you changed the connector on the truck side. Seems like, for anyone working on this in the future, you would want the right fan to fit. Was something wrong with the connector on the old fan?
@gregoryhumphrey2831 Жыл бұрын
When you 1st placed the shroud onto the condenser when it was raised up, you could have placed the 4 bolts holding the shroud to the condenser then. Then lower the asssembly into place on the grommeted feet. Then reattach the u-grommet/bolt on top left and right side of shroud.
@MrBigdaddyII Жыл бұрын
Did one of these this morning. It also had the different connector, but I noticed that the wires also unplugged at the fan motor itself, the connectors on the fan motor were the same so I just took the wires from the old one. Did yours not have it to where it disconnects from the fan motor as well?

Couldn’t you have taken the connector from your old fan and rewire the new fan?
@lo1234-w9r Жыл бұрын
It voids the warranty on the new fan. Of course anyone doing this at home would need to do that, first I would use temporary jumpers to verify that the new fan works.

Not sure of your year, mine is an 08 ram 1500, 5.7 hemi. years ago i did mine in my driveway, probably before they modified replacement shroud cause i believe i had to trim bottom of shroud too. I just though could not wiggle it out and I know how to finesse. What I didn't like is that the fuse box was one piece with the battery tray. Not wanting to remove all of that tray I lifted the fuse receptacle from its underside box, cut the box away from the battery tray, installed fan and shroud, then used small L brackets with little bolts and star washers to reattach the box that holds the fuse receptacle box back up to the battery tray. If they had made the fuses separate from the battery tray then this installation would be a cinch. Maybe its because my Ram is a texas edition and everything so my fan shroud just had to be thicker.

I think it would be easier to find the ground on your connector by just hooking the test light to the positive post of the battery,. Quick and fast

I have a question about braking pads. I've just opened the rear brakes and both pads from piston side is penetrated by piston inside like 3-4 mm, which makes me think that those pads had to be installed together with a backplate or something that prevents penetration of piston inside. Pads covered by some rubber thing, and that is totally penetrated. The question is, how do I know, if new pads already have those protection plates installed or not? Should it be always metal?

Just to be a pain in the ass there is soldered parts in all vehicles that have any electronic parts in them & some times there are places that wiring has been damaged & the only wat to fix them is by soldering a piece of wire to extend it to then utilize connectors (had to do it so I do know).Cheers .

off topic: QUESTION: 93 Ford Ranger Ran fine no issues then I held in the clutch and revved the engine slightly and I mean just a little, nothing silly just before I went over some fairly smooth rail road tracks at a crossing.. Afterwards, it would not go back into gear. now it runs and drives, but will only shift gears with engine off. Any ideas anyone? CLARIFICATION: the clutch works normally as far as resistance on the pedal, it actually does work as a clutch even, although it seems like it might be a little "maladjusted" now, like when you let it out its not all the way out
@christinamoneyhan5688 Жыл бұрын
I think you have hydraulic brake master cylinder and a slave cylinder operated clutch. Start at the top and check for proper fluid level in master cylinder. Look for any leaks in the line to the slave cylinder if all is good there, then check to see if the adjusting rod to the throw out bearing fork can be adjusted out a bit . If all this false to fix problem , have a friend actuate the clutch peddle while you watch the slave cylinder operate. It might feel like it is working but i5 might be bypassing fluid internally in the master cylinder causing the slave cylinder to short stroke the clutch fork. Hope this will help you out. I doubt that the railroad tracks or the revving of the truck had much to do with the issue. 30 years is a long time for wear and tear . Good luck.👍🇺🇸✌🏻🙏🏽😎

I'm too OCD about cutting things to fix stuff. 😮 Especially if it's a customers vehicle, why Dodge designed it this way? This is as bad as the Caddy thermostat, or an early japanese minivan I changed a starter on that required the engine be lifted to gain access to it. I don't remember what brand/model it was. I'm thinking a Toyota this was back in the mid 90s these engineers should be forced to repair their designs before sending them out to the Assembly line
