Air Conditioning Gremlins on my 1996 Mercedes-Benz W202 [MGC Ep. 21]

Welcome to Benz Revival, Episode 9!
In today’s episode, I attempt to get my Air Condition sorted! I got the AC regulator part as mine was not doing it’s job. Previously, with the fuse in place the AC would stay on even if Car is turned off. This would drain the battery. So I had the fuse disconnected for months. Today, we put in a new regulator which solved the issue of AC not turning off. However, I discovered the AC control unit was not supplying the correct current to the AC Pump, hence it wasn’t running and so I couldn’t put AC has into the system. So as it stands, I’ve got AC but only from the fan. I plan to sort the rest of the issues in a future episode!

Hi can you help me, my fan in the front of the engine spin slow when I switch on the aircon, there is plenty of gas in, what can it be

Not sure maybe check wiring, or the fan temperature switch, or fuse

my mb W202 1.8 -97 is turning power on itself and ofc killing the battery over night. Any ideas where to start looking?

While I was back in Kenya I never used aircon to save fuel, aircon was luxury to me.

It is suprisingly cool in the car with the windows down so i agree, AC is not essential. However, i need the AC to defrost the windscreen during cold or rainy weather

Lionel Fotso must be an absolute pleasure. There were very few 202 diesels here in Kenya , I haven’t come across any. If I do, you’ll see a video!

Hey! Could be a whole range of things but first check MAF sensor / spark plugs etc
