Great Vid! Hadn't thought about grinding down the adjuster base. I however did try connecting the oil hole's inside with my dremmel last year and botched the job. Decided it would be better for steadier hands and younger eye's. LOL Thanks for sharing and keeping our VW's alive. Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing very nice and important information! Please, I have a doubt. If I do this same work in my engine (original 1300cc), using a 26 mm oil pump is enough to feed this new oil galleries? I'm asking because it's going to be necessary more oil flow, right? Thank you.

You have left off the valve guide seals. Now that the oil volume to the heads has been increased the intake valves /exhaust valves will pull oil into the combustion chamber. Hence the valve guide oil seals. I would like a video using the valve guide cutter. I have to do that yet.

maybe im just thinking of a cheater method, but could you eliminate the grooves in the shaft and just cut a groove in the rocker arm so the oil has to "take the long way around"? it would in theory supply more oil to the higher wear area at the pivot point. all in all, these hoover mods are a brilliant idea

That might not be a bad idea. We may have to setup a set of rockers on a test motor to see how it works out. My guess is if it was that simple, Bob would have found it. Him and his racing buddies started doing these modifications a long time ago.

I’m just guessing here; if the groove is made in the rocker arms, the oil will pass through this groove and will not spread over the high pressure area under the rocker arm body. In the other hand, whit the groove in the shafts, more oil will found it’s way to the highest pressure area under the rocker arms. Just an opinion! Saludos.

I've not worked on Type 4 engines much, but I did read an article that Bob wrote talking about how most of these modifications were incorporated into the Type 4 by the factory.
