This was sent in after "A Few" others had had a go at fixing air leak, charged for the work (!!) and ...it still leaked . Defo a head scratcher but its finally sorted ..........

Have seen this alot myself. People r engaging them while under load. That's what I come across. On the other hand it is a weak point on them I wish they would change it. Just a little more beefy. Great video. Here in the states thanks.

Absolutely charming! My 13 year hellish marriage to ARBs is about to end. I wish to urge all ARB prospective clients to see your work here. As a Yank, I need to know, Is a quid equal in value to a pound? Like we say a buck rather than a dollar? Come on over and be my neighbor; we can do black and tans all day. Cheers!

Opinions regarding ARB vary, and are like elbows: everyone has one or two. Personally, I have used ARB since 2001 in the same vehicle, which has covered most of Alaska’s tougher trails as well as having raced twice in the ARB/Warn Outback Challenge in 2002 and 2003. They are still in the vehicle and still working. No sheared bolts, no failures, although now, after 17 years and a great deal of abuse one of them leaks a bit. Not surprising since O-rings don’t last forever. My thoughts on the video are that, while a leak was eventually found more or less, it was not actually verified as having anything to do with the “crack” in the assembly. That actually looks like a machined part joint between two pieces of the assembly, in which case 1) ARB’s machining tolerances are off, and 2) it could have been remedied with anaerobic sealant. Actual diagnostics would have included a conclusion regarding the structural integrity of the part, and at least a trial sealing of the crack to verify that is actually where the air is coming from. All we really know from the video is that the entire assembly was replaced with new parts which, oddly, did not leak. Not all ARB units are made equal. The unit for the 24 spline Land Rover is not as robust as others, like my Ford 9” 31 spline units in Currie custom axles, which in turn are not as robust as some others found in off road racing. Don’t draw conclusions regarding the entire product line from one video about a light duty axle in an English machine. ARB’s do work.

I have a problem with ARB lockers. The twin o-rings inside the air line ring (seal housing) mounted onto the axle spline gear (bearing journal) is so low quality. They begin to leak after a year and start to pump your diff oil out to the air pump and now you have an oil leak from your air pump. And when the leak increases with more wear, your lockers stop locking. You have to dismantle the whole diff to change those washers. And guess what, those also wear and here we go again. They are constantly subjected to friction when the axles are moving. This is a big design weakness. I prefer electrically operated lockers now.

Good video......They’re terrible lockers and prone to failing at around the 40,000km mark, bolts also FALL OUT or shear off and course catastrophic failures like they did on my new car. Ripping em out and going TJM PRO lockers as soon as ARB replace the complete rear housing, diff, lockers etc

plus 1 on TJM Pro Locker, except I never went ARB in the first place.
