Air Force One - Chicago O'Hare ( ORD ) Approach & Landing [11.25.2014]

President Barack Obama is in town today to discuss his immigration reform with local community and religious leaders at the Copernicus Center at 5216 West Lawrence Avenue in the Jefferson Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side of Chicago. He landed at approximately 2:45 PM and is due out at 6:25 PM.
The video starts with a pair of O'Hare Airport Operations trucks doing a 'runway sweep' for any FOD ( foreign object debris ) that may be on the runway or on the grass next to it.
Landing was on Runway 32-Right ( 32R ) after a long 12-mile final as heard on ORD Tower frequency 126.900.
The aircraft operating as Air Force One today was SAM ( Special Air Mission ) 29000, a Boeing 747-2G4B, tail number 29000 ( 92-9000, manufacturer's serial number / MSN / construction number / cn 23825 // line number / ln 685 ). It is the 685th Boeing 747 ever built.
It is one of two VC-25A aircraft specifically used for Presidential and government VIP transport, and is scheduled to be retired before the end of this decade and replaced by brand-new, highly-modified Boeing 747-8i aircraft.

I work at ORD (ohare) for United Airlines ramp service. I'm the guy who puts your luggage under the air plane. I was there that day he landed. He didnt goto a terminal. As soon as the air craft stopped. You see secret service personnel all over the air craft from front to back. There was a guy walking with the pilot as he did his FOG(foriegn object debris) walk around the aircraft. The ambulance did end up taking someone in the back . Maybe they were sick or something . But yeah I remember it like this was just yesterday..you werent allowed and you not allowed to take pics while you are on the ramp area or anywhere on the air field. But I took a few anyways lol from far away of course. No airport employee, not even the lab truck nor the fuel truck was allowed to go by the aircraft. That access road was completely shut down. That aircraft was parked there for 2 days.

Yes it was. It was held at the McCormick place. That place pretty darn big too. All of downtown Chicago was closed off. They had divers looking for bombs in the water near the convention center

I don't think we ever have to worry about the Air Force buying a 787 NightmareLiner for their VIP fleet, as it's got a reputation as a terribly dangerous plane that most pilots refuse to fly... The current fleet: 2 VC-25's (Boeing 747) 6 C-32's (Boeing 757) 19 C-40's (Boeing 737) 23 C-37's (Gulfstream GV-550) 35 C-21's (Learjet 35) Why would they waste their money on a dangerously flawed 787, with it's host of electrical glitches, battery fires, and faulty wiring ??

Planes 28000 and 29000 are used alternately ; the other plane is flown with the primary outside the U.S. If the primary break down the secondary is ready to take over. Air Force Two is used when they fly to airports that cannot handle the 747.
