One of the things I never hear people mention is that when you go apply for the Air Force, whether reserves or guard or active they will ask for a copy of your credit report. If you have any collections get them paid off well ahead of time. Luckily I had nothing, but my buddy who applied at the same time with me did and it held him up for awhile.
@Jodywithawhy2 жыл бұрын
I’ve mentioned that in a couple of my videos. It’s for applicants 23 or older, or for applicants who are doing top secret jobs. But yea, if you have anything on there that flags, you will require a financial waivers. They’re pretty simple to get cleared.

Keep in mind National Guard members and reservists are eligible for a VA home loan if they have completed at least six years of honorable service, are mobilized for active duty service for a period of at least 90 days, or are discharged because of a service-connected disability. A home is a great way to establish credit. A car loan is too if you wanna start small. 💪🏽

The reserve pays $4,500 a year in tuition assistance every year. They have the Montgomery GI bill reservist use to cover the rest once they reach the max of their tuition assistance. Talk with the recruiter and see if they do any student debt pay off. I know active duty doesn’t do this at all, but the guard has different benefits than Active Duty. Guard and reserve doesn’t do any housing assistance either, unless you have any active position. Once you have the active position, you get all the active duty benefits. Unless it’s an ART (Air Force reserve technician). They pay a full time check, but it’s on a GS scale, not military active duty pay.

The AGR positions differ from location to location and so do the jobs they have available. My best recommendation for you would be to talk with your local Air Force reserve recruiter, and some of the surrounding areas reserve recruiters and see what they have available. You can find reserve recruiters using the Aim High app. Once you download the app, down in the bottom right corner, there’s 3 dashes. Click on that and on that screen it will have an option of find a recruiter. You can input your zip code and it will tell you who the active duty, reserve and air national guard recruiters are for your location.

Upgrade training is the training you do to become better at your job. Once you complete tech school and return to your base, you will have more on the job training that will take about a year. I’m sorry to ask this questions please. Thank you Jody 1. After serving active duty for 6 years can you switch to reserve or air national guard to have time with your family 2. Active duty for 6-8 years . How many times and how many countries will you be deployed to? 3. Is the salaries for the active duty and the reserves or air National guard the same 3. Is the benefits for the active duty the same as the reserves ?
@Jodywithawhy3 жыл бұрын
You can switch to the guard or reserve at the end of your contract, as long as all of your records are good. They won’t take you if you were a terrible airman, or if you couldn’t pass PT test. But a lot of people in the guard and reserve come from active duty. To say how many countries you’d be deployed to is unknown. In my first 6 years, I was only stationed at one duty station (Hurlburt Field, FL), but I had been deployed to the Middle East twice, and had been on Temporary duties to Canada, Italy, Spain, Greece, England, and Germany. Not everyone’s experience will be the same. Some never saw places like these in their first 6 years, and some saw more. So I can’t say what your experience will be like. Active duty gets paid full time checks. I made a money video about it recently. As far as guard and reserve, they only get paid part time. Unless they’re on active orders. But most likely you’ll only get paid for the 2 days a month, and not have the same benefits as Active either, because you’re part time. Guard and Reserve benefits vary too. Reserve benefits will be the same everywhere, but guard is different from state to state. I hope this helps.
