Love the podcast. I have a list of AFSOC areas that i hope you guys could touch on in the near future: 1. More SR operators 2. CAAs 3. A member of a AC130 gunship crew 4. SMAs (from either CV22s or HH60s 5. Retired members from the 24 STS 6. Dan Schilling 7. Any AFSPECWAR Air Force Cross recipients 8. Vietnam-era CCTs, PJs, SOWTs 9. TACPS assigned to "big Army" 10. 820th Base Ground Defense (BGD) out of Moody AFB (i know they're not apart of AFSOC, but they do have a unique mission) You guys are doing great work, thank you

This will require more research as I'm not sure how it relates to AFSW, even with their unique mission. 🍑

How much mechanical/automotive/electrical training do you get to be able to improvise and fix things in a pinch? Great podcast, enjoyed it!
@OnesReady
@OnesReady 4 жыл бұрын
In my experience it's been more about critical thinking and problem solving in a situation. I remember one patrol I went on with an ODA we were doing a long arduous overland movement in vehicles and we brought a mechanic with us on the patrol to help fix issues when they occur. He ended up being so busy on the patrol that most of us learned just enough to keep the mission going.

ALL of your videos are awesome, very encouraging and insightful. I watch them almost everyday, repeatedly and enjoy still enjoy it, Lol. I just got in contact with a recruiters yesterday and currently recapping for the ASVAB and exercising. Unfortunately, all the pools here in Austin TX are closed due to Covid protocol... I have a question: I'm a weak swimmer, the only time I was able to tread water, was when I almost drowned . SOMEHOW, I was able to tread water that moment.. I did it for 45 min, jumped back in to double check if it was real, did it again and again! I can't do it anymore for some reason... I was wondering, in the new Prep Course before A&S and after Basic Training, do cadre help candidate LEARN how to swim or improve their swimming so they can pass A&S and the Pipeline? I WILL spend all my time after training in the pool in the Prep Course, if allow...I REALLY want to be a P.J, being 33 yr old - 5'10" - 192 lb, this most likely be my final move in life and nothing would feel better than knowing that; I'll be part of a well respected/awesome SF community and I can/will save human lives and hopefully made a positive impact in peoples lives as well. And also be able to tell great stories about my journey as a PJ.

If you are in contact with a Special Operations Recruiter (SOR), they'll get you into a development programs after your first visit to MEPS. The developer will help you get to where you need to be with treading water and other aspects of the pipeline. Good luck on your journey!

@@OnesReady Awesome, that's great to hear!! I'll continue to do the recommended excerises and dry water exercise! Keep up the great work guys! Also, a suggestion, everyone of you guys should make a detail video about YOUR experiences in the pipeline: what was it like from day one, the struggle, failures, overcoming ,habits, and success! If you haven't already..I believe Aaron made one and, it was extremely insightful and gave me so much more respect for him.

Do you guys as operators approve of “J” coded positions for some of your support guys, in particular your AFE airmen (riggers) . A lot of STS/RQS units have their AFE guys jump because they pack/rig all of the personnel chutes/cargo chutes but some people in AFE leadership believe that AFE doesn’t need to jump to appreciate the equipment and deliver a good product. Just seeing what your take is, thanks!

100% agree that AFE should be jump qualified and if you're packing MFF rigs, they should be MFF qualified.

I am considering more the guard route that’s why am asking?I also wanted to ask have you seen anyone make it through and A&S as a vegetarian as I just became one the past couple years. Thank you

Yo sorry if I’ve missed it in a podcast, and I know you guys aren’t recruiters but I wanna know if I got this right based off the things I’ve learned from your podcasts. After BMT, you go directly to A&S prep that is 8 weeks? And upon passing prep you go to A&S selection that is 5 weeks? After passing A&S based off your PT results and character they’ll assign you to the Job they think you’ll succeed in and that’s when you begin the pipeline of your assigned job. If that’s true I’m really interested in the PJs and would you guys know what they look for in a potential pj candidate? Thank you guys for educating these career fields🙌🏻
@morgankjenkins6647
@morgankjenkins6647 4 жыл бұрын
beapj.com/resources/pipeline/pj How to Be a PJ site, link above, has that info, but basically, yeah. Everyone generally goes through the same pipeline till the end for more specific training. In San Antonio : BMT 8 weeks, Prep 8 weeks, A&S 4 weeks, Pre-Dive 4 weeks Combat Dive 5-6 weeks in Panama City Airborne at Fort Benning 3 weeks Free Fall in AZ or CA 4 weeks SERE 3 weeks in WA Then like another year in job specific training
@OnesReady
@OnesReady 4 жыл бұрын
Slightly different than what you laid out. It goes BMT to Prep for 8 weeks. Then you do A&S which is 2-3 weeks. Then you go to pre-dive, dive, and so on. With the SWOE contract, you'll be eligible for PJ/CCT/SR. I wouldn't try to focus your character on looking best for a PJ because that will be perceived being fake and in some of your darkest moments in the pipeline, that's when your true colors come out.

Do you do the PAST test before you get a contract for one of these special forces pipelines or is it the test done during the pipeline?
@justelynnnjoelle
@justelynnnjoelle 4 жыл бұрын
Yep, before you get to BMT you should be able to do PAST tests at any time of day, even just after getting out of bed. It needs to be that achievable for anyone looking to get into AFSW.

What a dumb comment. PJs train for almost 3 years with a 90% dropout rate. They have a lot of water qualifications just like the seals train in water. Then they go out in the same combat zones seals do in order to save their asses. CCT and SR do combat and are trained hard as well. They are called special forces for a reason.
