I love the idea of booking the higher class of service for the return trip home! I’m gonna start doing that because it will definitely give me something to look forward to even though my vacation would be ending.

We totally recommend this! A great way to end a trip & it gives you something to look forward to once your trip is over.

Thank you for not treating economy like some sort of medieval torture. Way too many points and miles people make economy seem like a death sentence when the goal is seeing the world, not getting a better chair for 8 hours
@intrepedo1003 ай бұрын
Hmmm. When are are a bigger person and you lap over the guy/ women beside you in economy for 8 to 10 hours you will realize why some people would prefer if you had taken Premium or Business. Then there are the really big ones , who should have been made to pay for two seats.
@kyleedelbrock52863 ай бұрын
@@intrepedo100 sure… but that isn’t what I’m talking about at all. I’m talking about miles and points bloggers/youtubers who are not too big for an economy seat but treat economy like it’s worse than the plague

Of course! We frequently fly in economy & by doing so, we are able to enjoy the business class experience even more when we have the opportunity to fly in it.
@DTraveler-gz1ix3 ай бұрын
Everyone has their own priorities when traveling. We choose to spend $/miles on business class on almost all long haul flights. We are older and being able to lie flat is huge for us. We also consider our flights as part of the overall experience and appreciate how much better we feel when landing at our destination . It allows us to be fresh and hit the ground running versus spending time getting our necks, backs, and legs loosened up. 16:12

Yeah, economy is just different when you're tall like me though. It's not just the knee knocking seat in front of you but also the headrest does this weird thing where it sits in the middle of your shoulders and forces your upper body forward so you can forget about sleep at all.
@mark-u7k7s3 ай бұрын
1:00 hmm... Air France flies out of T1, the centurion and chase lounges are in T4, and the JFK AF lounge in T1 is on Priority Pass (which you get with your Amex Plat). Getting between terminals at JFK requires leaving security and taking the JFK AirTrain. It's not as seamless as you make it out to be, especially since T1 doesn't have precheck yet. Unless you flew in to T4 and are transiting to T1, or have a lot of time to kill, it doesn't make much sense to make the detour to T4.
@jennifer_u3 ай бұрын
But the centurion lounge is in T4 and the AF terminal and lounge is T1. They do accept priority pass as well, sometimes. Key points missed here guys.

I would love to see more premium economy videos! Economy vs premium premium vs biz! Especially for families! We are going premium economy to Norway from Michigan and economy on the way home. The 50k biz seats weren’t available but still that’s 175,000 pts for a fam of 4 with littles. Makes a difference when it’s 4 vs 1 😂😂

We definitely want to try out some premium economy seats in the future & will be sure to include them in some future comparisons 🤗

This didn't show anything about the economy seats. Do they recline? How much leg room? Etc
@MusicAvi8Tr3 ай бұрын
Definitely worth the upgrade if you can score Paris to the west coast of the USA too! Now @dailydrop the only vid issue I see if you had row 1 - which has more legroom than the others so a bit sku'd view here on the seats, but still AF does well!
@DailyDrop3 ай бұрын
Absolutely! And yes, we did luckily get row 1 which may have more legroom, but overall still a great experience!

There was a time when Air France used to serve Champagne in Business Class on longhaul flights. And the 10 seats in a row in the 777 is just awful, when I used to fly economy class, the 777 had only 9 seats in a row.😢😢

DO you know if the mileage required for flights are permanent or do they change over time? I am only seeing 60,000 flights and am hoping for 22-30k flights. This is many months out. So i keep refreshing and checking or is it futile?

Hi Brandon, thank you so much for this it was really informative. I have been eyeing a Turkish Air business class flight from Kathmandu to Atlanta for 100k points. Me and my player 2 have almost earned our Citi-subs for the trip, I am totally stressed that the deal is going to disappear before we get our bonuses….Anyway, the other thing that stresses me out is that the transfer is not instant. In your experience how long does it usually take? I would hate to transfer 200k points and the flight disappear from the site. The plan is to do the Everest Base Camp trek with Rick’s company, Itrek Everest. None of this would even be a possibility without the inspiration that Kara and Nate and you have given us. Keep up the great work!!

Have you ever done a video on how to collect points using a credit card - specifically Sapphire preferred - without going into debt? It seems like I have to go into debt to collect points. I'm sure I don't... just not sure how you collect all these points without paying stuff I don't need.
@TravelswithLlama3 ай бұрын
I only charge my normal spending, nothing more, and pay off each month. If looking to meet a sign up bonus, look to time it when you have big expenses coming up like annual insurance payments. If you don't have these, then points accumulation will be slower but they can build up.

We actually just posted a video about how to earn Chase points, so definitely give that a watch! But to answer your question, we teach people to put their regular, everyday spending on the credit cards to earn points and not to go into debt to do so. Hope this helps!

Question: so what happens to your Checked luggage during the 1-3 day layover?? Do you claim it and then re-check with the next leg or does it sit around vulnerable to getting lost or stolen?? Does anyone know??
@matthewnirenberg3 ай бұрын
Legally you have to collect it and clear into the country. Its illegal for a passenger to be landside whilst their luggage is airside. Its absolutely painful so its best to either avoid layovers or to spend 3-5 days in the country before flying on. Of, if like myself, travel to places where you have citizenship or residence permits and leave clothes at each end so you travel with a laptop/tablet, a notepad and a book - carry-on only.

We did not have any issues with it as the train was running frequently, but we were sure to leave a buffer time just in case. It was definitely worth it for the lounge!

I think the "SSSS" comes when you book one way flights. I've now had it 4 times coming back to the US and I book one way tickets with miles. It has only ever taken a couple of minutes, right at the jetway so there's no impact on getting on the plane in time.
@DailyDrop3 ай бұрын
Hmm interesting! We typically book one way with points and this was our first time getting the “SSSS” so we thought it was just random. It was pretty quick though and didn’t affect getting onto our flight luckily!
@matthewnirenberg3 ай бұрын
The dreaded "SSSS" also gets applied (from what I've been able to work out or personally experienced) when: * You travel with basic carry-on only on international flights (after you build a pattern between two locations they usually stop putting it on) * You work a job with a govt clearance * You've had legal action with an airline, country or a business (as the authorities consider you to be a 'potentially elevated threat') * You've screwed them around by not disclosing (with proof) that you are licenced/officially permitted to work with certain 'residues' before they run the sample (this requires them to manually exclude a lot of things individually and takes more time than if they knew to exclude from the beginning.) The old "you stuffed us around, we're gonna stuff you around". * The computer "randomly" selected you... * You haven't traveled for 10+ years then start traveling. (They think this is odd behaviour) * You've traveled to conflict zones or "bad" countries (as far as the "west" is concerned) * The other country has requested / recommended you get the "SSSS" * You've been traveling private but suddenly travel commercial (this is considered odd behaviour) * You're a "Targeted Individual" so you're intentionally always getting selected Ironically, I've never had the dreaded "SSSS" on a one-way international ticket, only ever on return tickets.
@iang43383 ай бұрын
@@matthewnirenberg Maybe it is more random, none of those apply to me. Thanks.

Nice idea to save business class for the last flight and have something to look forward to. Makes sense flying to Asia, but I'd rather have a bed to sleep on the 10-hour flight from Seattle to Paris in the dark and fly premium economy on the daylight flight home.
