I want my baked/jacket potatoes quickly so I give two largish potatoes 10 mins in the microwave and then 10 minutes in my airfryer basket and they come out good. The microwave begins the internal cooking and then the airfryer continues and also gives nice crispy skin which you could never get with a microwave.

I'm so pleased to have found your air fryer video. I've been searching, but always the videos that appear show a different type of air fryer, the ones with baskets where the food is placed inside. I was despairing of finding one which showed my actual air fryer, which doesn't have a basket, only various wire trays - and here you are! Yay. So.... on behalf of all us viewers with the exact same air fryer as you, please please for many more cooking examples, please? And as a newbie to this gadget it would be great to watch a "beginner tutorial " on setting up this machine. I'm a little confused on the usage of the different trays and things that come with it. Anyway, thank you for this great tutorial on getting a perfect jacket potato with this model air fryer.

Great video... Because, Tonight I'm attempting to make baked potatoes in my air fryer, and that's how I tuned into your channel, here's one observation from my experience with an air fryer, to me, they tend to run hot... Compared to the cooking instructions on a bag of something compared to an oven, your potato "skin" may have come out tough because of too much heat, I might suggest lowering the temperature, by 50°(350-360), and increasing the time, 5 to 10 min. remember, potatoes should be cooked thoroughly, and someone somewhere mentioned a internal temperature of 205-212 degrees. I am enjoying learning how to cook with an air fryer, but I am learning at least possibly with my model, that it potentially runs hot when cooking, and that sentence does not mean that there's something wrong with the air fryer, but it's the intense heat that is created, basically in a nutshell, the device is an electric burner... With an air fan, contained in a cooking box... :-) I look forward to more of your videos, they seem well thought out and a fair evaluation, when we are discerning how to cook with this new modern device :-)

Good insight! I'm always learning and adventuring! I will have to try that. I wonder if I could get my wired thermometer in there during my next potato bake/fry to see just when it's done... Hmm hmm hmmm. Oh and WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! ;)
@grahamjohnson4702
@grahamjohnson4702 10 ай бұрын
Not sure if this is true but I think that because you are cooking in a smaller airspace that the temperature is always hotter than what is set compared too the larger oven hence I always lower the temperature setting below what is normal cooking setting.

@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking 3 жыл бұрын
There's a good debate on the foil in air fryer. The idea behind it is that it inhibits air flow if you cover the trays with it, thus creating a problem for air flow and it's hard on the machine. So if you just wrap your food in the foil (and make sure it has good air flow) you should be fine. I've been putting foil-wrapped food in mine for over a year. :) BUT everyone needs to do what they feel comfortable with.

Aluminum potato nails will simply hasten the baking process, because heat is conducted to the center of the potato as well as the outside, causing more uniform baking.

@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think a time change is necessary for less potatoes. Just make sure you fork them for doneness. Also, If you google "foil in the air fryer" you will get a lot of great advice on using foil in your machine. The main problem with foil in the air fryer is the air flow restriction. As long as you don't have an air flow issue, foil inside your DAF is fine.

So many different models cook at different rates. I’m not scientific so I’m not sure why. The things I’ve read seem to say that the smaller the air fryer, the hotter and quicker it will cook. Wonder if anyone else agrees. Update - I was so wrong! I guess t’s not a microwave so our lunch potatoes also took same amount of time. I took your last test olive oil/salt/pepper in foil. The skins did brown a bit and were so good w/ a slice of cheese melted on it.

I thought you are not supposed to use foil in the deluxe air fryer?
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking 2 жыл бұрын
After using my air fryer for a long time and reading others info manuals on other air fryers, I believe the "no foil in the air fryer" is simply to prevent people from inhibiting the air flow in their machines (when they cover the whole tray with foil), thus blowing up their motors. So I feel confident using it in my air fryer, but everyone needs to do what they feel is safest for them. However, here two years in it's been just fine. Hope that was helpful!

@AdventuresinEverydayCooking
@AdventuresinEverydayCooking 2 жыл бұрын
I did some in the air fryer and did a video. The real key is the rest after it's done. Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs: 19-20 minutes on 250. 6 minute rest (do not remove from air fryer or anything), 6 minute ice bath, then peel immediately. This works amazing for me, but some people say their middles are still a little softer than they prefer. So I would try one with this method and see if it works for ya :)

Well, yes. The directions on the DAF say to not use foil, however I fully believe that they don't want you to use foil to line the trays which would impede the air flow. I have used foil in mine on many occasions and as long as 1.) it's not restricting air flow and 2.) it's not touching the sides or top or the element... then I believe it to be just fine. However, you do what you fell safe doing. :)
