I know it's been 2 years on this video but I learned a lot from it. Thanks for helping limit our mistakes. I haven't done steaks in air fryer yet but my spare ribs turned out great.

Eric did not just do a recipe but a lesson on meat, He's knowledgeable on food and that makes him a best for me. I have never had anyone give useful information about why you did the salt, why the temp matters the degrees/shade of pink and how meat cooks near the bone or the meat you get on either side of the t-bone steak. EXCELLENT - Great - thanks Eric

I love my air fryer (just like yours)--why don't you use the presets? Just use the Preheat cycle (5 min @ 400 F), then add your steak and use the Steak setting. Your steak would have sizzled when it was 1st put in giving it more of a caramelized coating. Also use a paper towel to dry the meat if you have salted it. Any surface moisture will cause it to steam and not broil. Better luck next time!

I agree with you Eric that a quality steak is great with just a dash of salt and pepper. For me cooking a nice steak has always been a challenge no matter what method I have followed. Perhaps running over it with the car first would work!
@EricLearnstoCook

now..now. don't need drastic measures. LOL!!! run it over with a bicycle first, then a car only if it needs it. I did a steak video where I baked it in the oven first and then pan seared it. Cooks Illustrated did that. The idea is that pan searing first causes more loss of juices. Of course, overcooking it also is an issue. Salting wrong is an issue. Sous vide is a good way to cook them as well. Cooking the wrong way can hurt. Maybe we need a hotline for people needing help cooking them? LOL. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it.

Potato...how long...????? Meat...how long...???? What seasoning.....??? I’ve never used my new air fryer and have no idea what I’m doing..... I think I need a big roadmap lol. Thank You Both!
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The potato can be cooked entirely in air fryer or nuked first and finished in air fryer if time is tight. Amy shows how to do it ALL in the air fryer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6fIXniDg9uErdk This steak is thin and took around 8-9 minutes @ 400 degrees. If steak is thicker it can take longer. Bone in it takes longer. So a thin boneless steak is fast. A thick or one with bone takes longer. Then what temp do you like? Rare? Medium Rare? Medium? Medium-Well? Well done? It really matters. Spice to use? I used salt and pepper here. If you have a favorite BBQ rub, then try it. Some steaks don't need help. Some benefit with butter on them for flavor. It just depends on your preference. yes, a roadmap is always good. LOL. Good luck learning how to use your air fryer. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 3 жыл бұрын
@@denisprieur7944 10:53 You didn't watch the whole video? But yes, on my other steak videos I showed the pink. This steak was way too thin. Shorter cook time then the meat near the bone is raw. Longer cook time better near bones and over cooked elsewhere. But at least there wasn't red juice everywhere to gross people out. I hope that helps.

Too long and you didn’t mentioned how high for the temperature. That’s the biggest issue with the frier time and temp!
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your meat. I could say cook at 350 for an hour and that would likely kill it, unless your steak is more like a roast, then it'd be fine. If you want a 'sear', get it as high as possible. 400 usually on these things. Cook it a few mins on each side and monitor the temp. Do you want rare? 130 internal meat temp. Medium rare? 140 degrees. Medium? 150 or so. It all depends. We're not baking cupcakes here. There is no formula. Once you get the hang of your equipment and your preferences, then you'll know the time/temp based on your cut of meat and thickness. I hope that helps. I know it doesn't. But get an instant read thermometer. Or if you want to see the meat temps in real time, a wireless Maverick is good. You can set alarm temps and watch TV until it beeps. With the remote temp, you can watch it every commercial break until you wanna get up and flip the meat or call it done. That is likely more helpful.

Maybe I missed it but did you flip it half way through? For how long at 400 did you pre-heat? Perhaps I missed that part of video
@EricLearnstoCook
@EricLearnstoCook 5 жыл бұрын
I checked the other side, but did not flip it. I ran it at 400 until it came up to temp and counted down one or two minutes. Then I tossed the steak in. No, you didn't miss anything on the video. I cooked my other t-bone the prior night as a test cook. It was weird that it doesn't matter if I flip it or not. Maybe because they are thin? but it takes at least 5 minutes to start turning brown. The other side had pink spots. Finally evened out closer I got to 8 minutes. I'll probably try this again with a thicker steak (1 1/2" thick), just to see if it can do it. I used a smaller air fryer the previous night, and the results (cook time and results) were the same. Just a little more room to fit the steak in this bigger one.

Yeah our supermarket doesn't believe in giving us real steaks. I went to Wegman's once, and paid $20 for a 2 inch thick steak. Probably take an hour in this thing to cook?
