I watched all your North Korea trips and they were really impressive! I'm from South Korea so it's quite amazing that you take photos of North Korea with your Samsung Galaxy. Some travelers sleep and play on their phones while they're moving or waiting, but I would never waste my time like that, especially in a country that's not easy to travel to like North Korea. If I were you, I would probably take a lot of photos and videos and visit and experience as many places as possible. I would add various drinks, snacks and souvenirs to my luggage and spend my trip meaningfully by writing a diary every night at the hotel or talking to the guide. Hate the politicians and love the people... The North Korea tour program is like a safari bus running through a huge zoo, it breaks my heart. :(

@Snufkin81229 күн бұрын
@@Amidat Peace... It's a really good thing and everyone wants it, but it's not easy to get. Leader Kim is a very greedy and capricious leader, and every five years the South's president changed, so the plan lost momentum because the president's disposition was different. When a progressive president was in power, there were many cooperations in peace, but when a conservative president was in power, it was the opposite. As of 2024, I think the relationship between the South and the North is the worst of the worst. (Recently, our crazy president Yoon's martial law document had a plan to attack the North, and it could have almost led to a war. Fortunately, he was impeached today and will soon be tried on charges of sedition.) However, it is true that we need to talk to each other more! We should stop pointing guns at each other because we are the same people but have different systems and ideologies. North Korea accepted various investment proposals from South Korea in the 1990s and 2000s and operated industrial complexes and resorts in the border area of North Korea, but was disappointed several times by South Korea's blatant strategy and unprofitable negotiations, and now has given up on unification, regards South Korea as the ultimate enemy, and does not want to trust anything. Also, the withdrawal of US troops from South Korea has been an issue for a long time, but it is not a simple matter. There are many strong countries such as Russia, China, and Japan around South Korea, and some say that South Korea should have nuclear weapons to protect itself. Perhaps it is the same reason that Leader Kim is obsessed with developing nuclear weapons. Well... It is true that South Korea is restricted in doing anything with North Korea because of the US, and with Donald Trump demanding more defense spending, no one knows what will happen in the future. (This is what happens when businessmen get into politics. The US may become rich, but the world will become hell.)
@constant198929 күн бұрын
@@Snufkin812 You called chairman Kim greedy and capricious, but he is somewhat right- South Korea should declare itself an independent country in borders it controls and recognize Dprk as another independent country in borders they control, sign a peace treaty that secures these provisions(also South Korea should close Ministry of Unification and propaganda aimed at the North, and withdraw Us troops), and after that develop relationships as 2 independent countries. It is the only way forward. Kim understood that, South Koreans should also do the same. And maybe in 50 or 100 years there will be trust between the two.

@@constant1989 очень желаю вам , двум странам, объедениться в мире. Вы ведь одной крови. Вы все корейцы
@Snufkin81229 күн бұрын
@@constant1989 Yes. That plan was exactly proposed by Kim Il-sung and was proposed as a method of unification in North Korea until the end of the 20th century. That method is called the Koryo Federal Republic here. The purpose was to gradually restore homogeneity by recognizing each other as legitimate independent states and maintaining two countries and systems, just like Germany in the past, although they are one people. I also think that if the two countries begin official exchanges, even if limited, and visit each other and allow trade, it will be much better than it is now in all aspects. On the other hand, many South Korean citizens want to collapse the North Korean government and then be absorbed by South Korea, but that method also carries fatal risks. After unification, there will be enormous social chaos, and all costs in the unification process will have to be paid by the South Korean government. These days, young people in South Korea are losing interest in North Korea and are showing extreme reactions of not wanting unification, which is no different from wanting to continue military tension and wasteful defense spending forever... Over the past 30 years, there have been no problems with non-political cooperation between the two governments, such as sports events or tourism, but when serious topics are brought up, North Korea has been very uncooperative. (Nuclear development, human rights, stationing US troops) Even in several meetings, the conflicts between what each side wants and their opinions were so clear that they could not achieve positive results each time. All I can hope for is that a next president who can realistically discuss with North Korea is elected and that Trump persuades Kim to start in-depth talks again. However, I do not think Kim Jong-un will easily participate in new talks because he has firmly decided not to talk anymore.

Your footage of Pyongyang reminds me so much of Peking (Beijing) in 1980. The wide avenues, the absence of private cars and congested traffic, everyone travelling by bus, minibus, bicycle or on foot, no advertising hoardings, or brash neon lights, people dressed in similar fashion and everyone going about their business instead of hanging around aimlessly in groups as they do in Western cities. Above all there was a sense of calm and security with no fear of being assaulted by pickpockets and beggars or drug addicts with a propensity for violence. There were more people in Beijing but the similarities are remarkable. If I were younger I would love to visit Pyongyang just to experience those feelings again. My visits to China in the early 80s remain some of my absolute favourites in a lifetime blessed with the good fortune of being able to visit so many different countries.

Can't but help thinking it is how the west will look in 30 years time. ( WEF ) No cars, everyone catching public buses, just the rich and establishment servants have cars. Fantastic insight into N Korea infrastructure and what I did notice is obesity is not a problem there. Thank you for this, cheers from UK.

Pyongyang looks like a clean, orderly, peaceful place! How many major cities in the world can boast this? As a kid, I desired activity, entertainment and the like. These days, I just want to live in a quiet place, with friendly, considerate people. Westerners tolerate way too much disorder and we seem to coddle criminal actors rather than protect and defend the law abiding. It’s madness!
@AB-mw8oz17 күн бұрын
It's a city of 3 million people, but its dead, no cars, no people, just government officials watching your every move. Munich has half the population, but go to Marienplatz during the day and look at how alive it is
