I enjoyed that, but would like to have seen more of the runway and the railway crossing. I was MOW site engineer for the construction in 1963/64. Construction was by Manawatu Asphalts under contract to MOW.

how do you get cockpit rides? i thought due to security reasons it was forbidden

You have to know the crew but the rules have since changed again

Skippers risking getting his fingers damaged if the FO rejects the take off and closed the throttles smartly. When setting the thrust on the B757 for the pilot flying I always made sure my hands were not to low down the thrust leavers.
