It’s not the hot air rushing past the egg that gets it into the bottle. The egg is sucked into the bottle because the air inside is heated by the flame, then when the egg is placed on top it creates a seal and the air inside begins to cool down and pressure inside decreases. This cooling down inside a closed system is what creates a big enough difference in pressure to pull the egg into the bottle.

The egg is not "sucked into" the bottle, it is pushed into the bottle from the higher air pressure of the atmosphere.

My explanation is : Hot air always go upword and creates a vacuum at that point.For this cold air rushes onto that place to balance. In this case, when fired up inside the bottle, the temperature of air increases and it flows upword and passes through the egg on top. At the same time, relatively cold air outside the bottle rushed into bottle to balance the pressure by pushing egg inside. Am i right George Mehler ?

The combustion of the news paper uses up the oxygen in the bottle. Since the bottle is sealed there is a limited oxygen supply, as the newspaper burns, volume of oxygen falls, meaning pressure inside the bottle falls. The egg then gets sucked in as air outside the bottle is higher pressure than air inside the bottle.

Just remember, air always fills an empty space WHENEVER possible. As the fire was dying inside the bottle, the air cools down which makes it contract and also causes it to have less pressure than the outside. So the air outside is forced to fill the space inside by pushing the egg inside and thus filling the space up.😄

As the molecules heat and move faster, they are moving apart. So air, like most other substances, expands when heated and contracts when cooled. Because there is more space between the molecules, the air is less dense than the surrounding matter and the hot air floats upward. HOT When the flame goes out (because the egg is blocking its source of oxygen), the molecules of air in the bottle cool down and move closer together, making room for new air molecules. This creates a partial vacuum. COLD

Put the bottle in hot water. Hot water will warm the air inside the bottle which causes more air pressure and makes it easier to pull your testicle out. Some oil might be needed to lubricate the mouth of the bottle.

I tried this for my science experiment too, except I replaced the egg with my left testicle. Got a A- and not a plus because I couldn't get the testicle out without breaking the bottle. Luckily a friend helped me blow it out like in the video for extra credit and got the grade changed to A+

Pour any carbonated soda inside the bottle shake it a few times with the bottle upside down and you're hand covering the mouth until the egg falls towatds the mouth and remove your hand.. out pops the egg + no ash taste 😂

I might be wrong here, but you say we decrease pressure in the bottle by putting in the flaming paper. Isn't it actually an increase in pressure? I'm pretty sure that at some point I heard that heat cause air particles to move quicker and bump into eachother, increasing the pressure, since the amount of particle impacts is what determines the pressure level.

+Alex Sparta initially yes, that's what forces the air out, but when the air cools down after the fire is out the air pressure rapidly goes down- sucking the egg in.

megastoejoe Okay thanks, that makes perfect sense. So the vibration of the egg is air particle trying to force itself out and when cooled down they find themselves at a pressure deficit which causes the surrounding air to try and smooth out the imbalance by forcing air to go inside the bottle.
