This hunt was filmed a while ago and i'm only getting round to editing and uploading it now. So for all of those who have been asking to see another video, i hope you will enjoy it.

Great videos, ive learnt alot watching and have now bouth myself a pcp 22 12ib webbley ranger and have had some great results. Thank you.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@ash1557 Well Co2 guns power can go up and down a bit with hot and cold weather, were a PCP is more consistent. But if you already have the charging gear to run one PCP why not buy another cheaper one like a Webley raider2 or something. Glad you liked the vid.

@DziReeee A spring powered brake barrel air rifle would be the best place to start, something like a BSA Supersport or Lightning or a Weihrauch HW95k, these will be powerful and accurate enough for hunting out to 35-40 yards, but this will take lots of practice.
@HuntersVermin12 жыл бұрын
@46FreddieMercury91 They don't reduce the noise by much on spring guns not 12ft/lb ones anyway but they can help reduce mussel flip by adding weight to the end of the barrel which can help accuracy. Yeah rabbits are easier to hunt at times as you just need your gun pellets and a bit of cammo, pigeons though you usually need to build a hide and use decoys etc.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@MrHunterverminhelpme Yes different shapes and weights of pellets will usually shoot to a different zero and heavier pellets will have a more rounded trajectory. The most arrurate shape seems to be a round headed pellet as Field Target shooters use these plus they transfer their energy well. Flat or hollow points usually aren't as accurate at longer ranges but have good knock down power and work well at close range hunting like rats etc.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@gerrardfan09 Hi ya, it's spring powered guns your looking for then. Under lever rifles are the best like the Airarms TX200 or prosport, or the Weihrauch HW77 or HW97. Or you could go for a break barrel firle like the HW80 or the lighter HW95, all so guns like the BSA supersport or lightning and the Webiey stringray or longbow. Just depends how much you want to soend, but have a look through some of the airrifle magazines to see what there is and cost.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@dragonpks The word i think you are looking for is magnification, and my scope can be adjusted from 4 to 16 times magnification, but i usually keep it set at 6 power.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@DziReeee No I haven't used a lightning as yet but it comes in three different stock designs and fitted with a silencer which is nice and it has a good reputation for vermin control. The mk7 meteor would be ok for vermin control but the mk6 is a little under powered.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@MADtrippin Well i,ve never fired ether of them but had a look at what i could find on the net and you tube, they are both very different, the benjamin has a LOT of power and being a break barrel all you need is your gun and a box of pellets to go hunting. The airmagnum is only 12ft/lb but has an 8 shot mag and recoilless action which makes it a very fast shooting gun, if you don't mind puting a Co2 canister in it now and again. So if i needed the power the benjamin, but the 850 for fast fun.

great video once again. Whats the make of the camcorder your using dave, and the mount for the rifle.?
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@MrHunterverminhelpme You can't always shoot your quarry at the same range so you will need to shoot at a paper target at different ranges (every 5 yards) to see just where the pellets hit and how much higher or lower they are from your cross hairs. Write this down so you will know how much hold over or under you will need for each shot. A flatter trajectory means that the .177 needs less hold over or under at the same ranges as a .22cal.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@mukhaa0aa Thanks, its a Meopta 4-16x44 Tactical scope, its really for a center fire rifle and way over the top for an air rifle, but works well for me.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@MrHunterverminhelpme To be honest you don't need an FAC gun unless your going beyond 40 yards, and £900 will buy you a lot of gun. Have a look at the Airarms TX200 or the Weihrauch Hw97 as they are the best in spring guns at the minute. There are good pcp powered air rifles available from Wehrauch, Daystate, Airarms, Theoben and BSA these days so have a look on their websites to see what you like.Check out the Hawke range of scopes and you will need mounts, Sportsmatch are about the best.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@BirmzWeedhead The cheapest air rifle i know off that still has around the 12ft/lb limit for hunting is the AGS Value Max from Webley, which would be a lot better than a crossbow as it is illegal to hunt with a crossbow or bow in the UK.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@LightningRider15 Thanks, the air rifle i am using here is a Theoben MFR with 30ft/lb of energy in .22cal.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@MrHunterverminhelpme In the UK all air rifles are limited to about 12ft/lb of energy which in ether .177 0r .22cal will cleanly kill rabbits with a head shot out to 35-40 yards. The TX200 is very accurate thats way spring powered Field Target shoots use them but Bisley Magnums are 10.5grain in .177 and 21grain in .22cal.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@Jiinx2 Thank you very much for that nice comment. I'd love to make a dvd thats why i started this, i have the footage just not sure what to do with it.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@anth69y Lamping is an art in itself, its like stalking but at night. The rabbits cant see you as well but they can still smell and hear you, so you need the wind in your face and walk quietly, sweep the whole field as rabbits will head out into the middle of the field and can lie so flat you could miss them till you get close. You could also sit near a big warren with a lamp and take the rabbits as they come out to feed after dark but most people lamp on the move.

@Jiinx2 Thank you for all those suggestions they sound like good ideas, i'm trying to slowly put the footage i have got over the last year and more together to see what i have before i take it to someone to get prints made. I should have about two hours of good never seen footage with far bigger bags of magpies and pigeons than i've showed here. But what takes me hours to do on a computer a 10 year old could probably do in 10min.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@spudmanchronic Thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed it.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@treeratbuster Thanks, those are some very good suggestions. most airgun hunting dvds i've watched was just all rabbiting from a jeep, but i wanted to show something different. Baiting crows and magpies, decoying wood pigeons and stalking rabbits on foot, Plus hide building. Shooting techniques and gaining permission are good ideas to but there already are dvds that show that out there.But dear knows weather i'l ever get as far as producing it as i feel like i'm well over my head.

@mayfly36 Hi ya, its a JVC 330 hard drive but i think the new model is the 630 now, the mount is something i had to make up myself though.
@AndrewRobson.12 жыл бұрын
Could you do a tutorial video on how to mount your camera to the gun and what camera you use?
@HuntersVermin12 жыл бұрын
Well the camcorder i used is a JVC 330 but they probably don't make it any more as its over three years old. The mount i had to make myself as i couldn't find anything on the market at the time but you can get a handle bar mount now on ebay that will do the job.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@dragonpks thank you, yeah that theoben MFR of mine is putting out 30ft/lb.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@THEMRJISHERE For rabbits its best to try a few hours at first and last light when they are most active.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@Danielboy40 Yes, a good break barrel air rifle with about 12ft/lb energy would be fine for hunting, as i used an HW80 for years before i got a PCP air rifle.
@HuntersVermin12 жыл бұрын
@46FreddieMercury91 There is a loud bang with a pcp air rifle so a silencer is very useful but on a spring gun most of the noise is mechanical so a silencer isn't as effective unless the pellet is supersonic like on some really high powered air rifles. I do hunt some times by lamp light but never managed to film it but i hopefully will have some night vision footage to upload soon with the NiteSite NS200.

@huntersvermin hiya mate enjoy all your videos! whats the cheapest air rifle you can get im hunting rabbits in norfolk next week, is it better to get a crossbow maybe?
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@bigD96000 The scope i am using here is a 4-16x44 but i keep it set at 6 power, most people in the UK with a 12ft/lb air rifle sight their scope in for 25-30 yards for a .22cal and 35-40 yards for a .177cal.
@46FreddieMercury9112 жыл бұрын
@HuntersVermin I've heard some remarks that silencers on spring rifles are a gimmick; indeed i have a silenced HW95 but i find it makes little difference.Maybe you would agree with me that rabbits are easier to hunt than pigeons?
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@Andymannitro Theres not too many of them in my area and i have only shot the one but you could bait them to an area with some peanut butter for a few days then sit and wait for them with your air rifle at the ready.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@TamrynRimfire Thanks for the 5 Tamryn, glad you enjoyed it.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@MrFREDANG Sometimes you have to skin a rabbit to see were the pellet hole is. But i would say to go and put some more practices in on the range and make sure that you and your gun are zeroed in ok. Plus i usually go for a head shot, its still a good sized target and usually drops a bunny on the spot.
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@HeLLsMeSSnGR Thanks, glad you liked it.
@HuntersVermin13 жыл бұрын
@MrHunterverminhelpme I would say the TX200 hands down, it is a dearer gun and heavier but very accurate.

@HuntersVermin Hope you don't mind me asking, but how far into the year do you hunt rabbit's as i find with some work commitment's, and the night's drawing in like they are it's nearly impossible to get out .Your fellow Donegal hunter
@dragonpks14 жыл бұрын
@HuntersVermin ;) it's really expensive ... and how many times does your scope make it larger?? (don't know how to say in english again ;))
@HuntersVermin14 жыл бұрын
@steinderbush Yes my old HW80 was in .22cal, and at that time i did prefer the .22cal because thats what everyone else was using, plus it did have more knock down power. But now after zeroing a .177 cal Prosport for a friend with Bisley Magnum pellets, and seeing how accurate it is i would love to try a .177 for hunting myself. But i'l have to wait till i get some money first.

Listen to the masses Dave! With the quality of these clips, you wud have no bother shifting a ton of DVD's. Just a few suggestions if im not being too cheeky! 1. Hunting techniques - building a hide, camo, stalking, lamping, calling, decoying etc. 2. Quarry species - rabbits, corvids, pigeons etc - best times of day or even year to hunt them. 3. Shooting techniques / positions etc. 4. Odd ball stuff - say gaining permissions, disposal of carcasses etc. Ill take the first one!

@dflif1996 Yeah i know what you mean, but with little work about these days i find i have more time than i used to. But i would stalk rabbits for as long as the summer and autumn weather holds, but you can stalk them on some of those nice winter days as they are sunning them selfs. You can lamp them at night too but i like stalking them, plus i would leave them alone in the spring for a while to breed.
