It's an RAF Sea King from A Flight 22 Suadron ,based at the former RAF Chivenor, now RMB Chivenor in North Devon, I was born and bred in a coastal town in North Devon and used to frequently see these fantastic helo's

Yellow is normally RAF.

No, it wasn't. The patients were most accessible by sea or air, and a sea rescue would probably have ended with a transfer to a helicopter. Given that the helicopter was at hand, this actually makes the most sense.
