I was trained t not put thread tape and the first two threads for air systems, that prevents accidental debris from entering air system.

READ FIRST: Save yourself some time, skip to 5:43 watch for 8 seconds. Clogged screen. Done. Informative though over length video.

I'll add this safety warning. If you find rust in the screen shut off your compressor and drain all the air from it asap. Use a bore scope to check for tank rust inside it. If it's rusty inside don't use it as it could explode, seen it happen before. Replace the tank or buy a new compressor
