@@james_prasanth_w concentration and awareness makes it stressful, thus usually atc controllers have required breaks in between. Moreover if there's an emergency or busy traffic it's even more. That's why they have separate approach, tower and ground controllers so that they can handover their aircrafts systematically

A clock that runs in their heads in real time; a vivid, dynamic, 3-dimensional imagination, a razor-sharp sense of timing, a thorough grasp of capabilities of various types of aircraft (on ground and in the air), weather etc etc etc. And stress-management (just to make it a little more interesting). These are just some of the requirements for making a good ATC. Interestingly, it was a woman ATC who guided Wing Commander Abhinandan, flying low-level through the valleys of Kashmir (hidden from the enemy pilots) till he was at the right place and time, to pop-up suddenly out of nowhere, giving him the best opportunity to engage in the dog-fight that saw him shoot down the PAF F-16! It seems that we need many more experienced ATC’s for our skies to really be safe. We must be grateful to these unseen and silent men and women, who make air-travel safe✌️

After Every 4 years ATC has to go under medical examination and this time DGCA has declared that ATCO's medical check up will be conducted via Air Force Station onwards.. Good Vision and Hearing is most essentials to handle the channel.. As my Husband is MGR (ATC) and above 40yrs so now after every two years his check up will be conducted.. very stressful and vigilant job but one gets a handsome salary 🙏🏻

@@rajneeshrana7902 thank u sir !. A few days back he was handling an Indigo Flight 6E411 which flew from Bangalore to Bhubneswar . It was a very special moment for him as his own brother and his family were coming back in the same flight. He was quite nervous knowing that his family was in that flight and he was handling a busy traffic that night but everything went smoothly. Very stressful job indeed!

@@bloggersayan those who fail in medical examination for any reason they are shifted to desk work.. they are not given to handle the channel and if any one handles the Channel without license then he/ she has to pay hefty 25lkhs as penalty. 60 years is the age of retirement

Are there any minimum age criteria, prior to the ATCs being allowed main duties in India¿ Because some of them seemed to be just about in their twenties. . Tough, fairly high stress work environment. Thank you ALL for your services and helping millions move safely and helping timely cargo movements too. . The training must be tough, so as to include scenarios like hijacking or simultaneous 'emergency' (PAN-PAN PAN-PAN / May Day, medical issues) being declared by multiple aircrafts. (Doing) This (job) requires strong and calm nerves with quick and logical thinking.
